You serious they want to charge you £495 plus 10%.

Its basically very easy to do.
Get all your accounts together wotk out when you opened up each credit card, prefer before 2007
Then to each credit card company you need to send a letter under the Section 127 of the CCA 1974
They must send you a copy of your agreement within 12+2 days(working) with a sighned agreement stating these things
A Amount of credit
B Repayments
c Rate of interest
D Credit Limit
If they cannot send these after 12+2 working days then you send an account in dispute.
Personally head over to CAG DEbt Collection Industry and they have letter templates.
Aslo you will need to send £1 per request.
NEVER NEVER SIGN ANY LETTERS YOU SEND AS IT HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR THEM TO USE THEM.
Do you mean CAB?Jane

They are using the "Unenforceability" regulations which have been used by many people to get out of paying credit card and loan agreements, usually those which were set up before 2007. Many credit agreements at the time were not drawn up in accordance with the law so they can be deemed unenforceable. The debts are NOT written off, the law simply states that they cannot be enforced in a court of law and there can be no CCJ's or charging orders placed against them. However, your credit rating will still be trashed, possibly for up to 9 years and it can be a bit of a legal minefield to negotiate if you are not sure how the laws work. There is a thread here...

which explains the process in more detail. If you want to try, you don't need to pay anyone any money, you can do it yourself for the price of a few stamps and some advice from someone who knows about the process, there is also a website here...

written by someone who has experience in these matters.
The next time that [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] phone you, tell them that you are fully aware of the legislation to which they refer and that you know that you do not need to pay them to send a few letters, you are more than capable of doing it yourself. Demand that they remove your number from their systems and that they send you no more letters. Please don't be tempted by these people, I know the CCCS way can be long-winded and a little soul-destroying at times but by spending more money that you haven't got, all you will end up with is more debt. [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]. (And I know how that feels, I'm with CCCS myself) If we could all get our debts written off that easily, this board wouldn't even be here!

1. You dont need to pay someone to do this. ( see previous posts)
2. If you charge the Fees to the CC with the intention of having that debt written off [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM].:D stay wonky

Thanks for putting this thread up, and for the responses.
I have had this company on the phone to me this afternoon, talked me through their website and gave me the hard sell. Fortunately, the line got disconnected (not by me, amazingly!) and so I started searching around for more info and found this forum.

They told me it would be written off too - they were incredibly persistent and kept ringing me. When I told them about the responses I had got from this board they got a bit nasty, but they haven't rung me back thank goodness.Jane

This company has recent contacted me. I thought it sounded brill, they told me it would not affect my credit rating so I agreed. They have put their charge on my credit card and are sending me papers to sign. I have since read these comments and have now changed my mind. I have not yet signed anything. Does anyone know if I can tell them I'm no longer interested and request a refund?0

I did the same thing last night and I haven't slept a wink!! They say if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. My husband went mad. They've charged 2 of my cards as I didn't have enough credit on the one I want rid of. Anyway, I phoned the CC companies and reported my cards as lost so they're blocked now although 1 of them mentioned the payment so I said I'd never heard of them so they're investigating. I've also emailed CR to tell them I've changed my mind and would like my payment refunded. They did say they have a 14 day cooling off period so they should honour that. no doubt I'll be getting phone calls from them today.
I didn't like the urgency they had for you to part with the fee. So why did I do it??? I dunno, just felt incredibly pressurised.0 -
I would definately write to them (recorded delivery) as well as call them to inform them you do not wish to proceed. If they have said that this will not affect your credit score, then they are blatently lying. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
