Just got called again. She argued with me that only they can wipe my debt and that I cant do anything myself when I was saying am not interested and want to do it myself. She then laughed and said fine "if you dont want our help for something you cant do, then its fine" Then said "If you change your mind, phone us back" Then hanged up the phone. I could tell she was pretty P off cos i was not accepting their service. But hopefully thats the end of it now.0

Sheesh, report them to the OFT for pressure selling...
And if they call back, tell them you've found someone who'll do it for a tenner all in (i.e. yourself, but you don;t have to tell them that!)

If not, you could send them a request to remove your data from their system (s.10 of the DPA). As you say though, hopefully they won't waste any more time on this. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
If someone's incapable of sending a CCA request, then they'd be incapable of signing to get credit in the first place! I've no idea where she got 16 years from though? Days maybe, not years!
I just feel sorry for people who don't know any better and line the pockets of these people.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I have been contacted by a company who claim that they can clear my credit card balance if I took out the card before 2007. They also claim that this will not affect my credit history or cost me a penny. The company is called CYD UK - am I right to be suspicious?0

So am i right in thinking even if you did research yourself and get these agreements deemed unenforcable, your credit file could still be ruined with defaults? whats the point then?0

Hi Walshy
There are various reasons why people still do it
For some its to get the creditor to agree to their reduced payments as part of a DMP
For others they get the creditor to agree to stop interest & charges
For others it helps negotiate a reduced full & final settlement
Some people already have trashed credit files and an extra default won't make a difference
Its stops the creditor going to cout to obtain a CCJ or even a charging order against you (or if it doesn't stop them you can at least defend against it)
Some people accept the default and save thousands by not repaying - knowing that their credit file will be cleared in 6years.
I am sure there are other reasons but the above are some of the common ones.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Morning everyone,
I am a newbie to the site so gentle please. I have been contacted by the company above stating that I can claim compensation and wipe my credit card because they did not get a signed agreement and therefore unlawful.
Also said that I could claim on my mortgage as the broker fee and interest was also unlawful.
Sounded like a really nice bloke and not pushy. However he said that there was a £995 fee which I could put on the card and get that wipe with the other balances.
I am confused sounds feesible and been on the site they are regulated as well. Please help with any advise as to whether this is a con or legit.
Cheers
I've been contacted by this company over the last 2 days and the £995 fee can be split into 1 £95 deposit and £100 a month for 9 months.
They told me to find my key facts illustration from the remortgage I had with the Black and White mortgage company in 2005, which I did and told them the fees that went to them and were added onto the mortgage. This was £2685 in total.
I was tempted to go ahead with it until I found this thread while checking out if it was a rip off or not and just wanted to ask what to search for in regard to doing it myself because everytime I try and search for claiming fees it either deals with mortgage arrears or late fees but nothing about claiming fees that shouldn't have been added in the first place.
Any help would be appreaciated0 -
Hi Motty -
Maybe a long shot - were these fees mortgage exit fees from the previous mortgage added on to the new remortgage? - if so look under mortgage exit fees - if not then I'm not sure what else to suggest.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
