"Write Off" your debt companies

PLEASE do NOT listen to this person. If you read through this thread you will see that nobody can promise to write off all your debts, whether they make a charge or not, and no changes to the Consumer Credit Act have been, or are likely to be, made that will make it unnecessary to pay off correctly accrued credit card debt.
As Mrs Tine has already stated, the Office of Fair Trading has issued a very strong warning about this type of company, and the consensus of opinion on here is not to touch them with a ten foot bargepole.
IF you feel that there could be a problem with your Credit Card Agreements, or if you feel that you are being over, or wrongly, charged, then call National Debtline - 0808 808 4000, CCCS - 0800 138 1111, or talk to a debt adviser at your local Citizen's Advice Bureau. All of these organisations are fully endorsed both by this site and by the Consumer Action Group, and will ive you free and professional advice.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Rog is right. This so-called change actually made it HARDER to render a debt unenforceable not easier so "someone" is talking garbage.
First thing you need is some proper advice from a debt charity if you are struggling with your debt.
Second thing, if you already have defaults on your accounts and are being chased for old debts, is to ask for the CCA. This costs £1 for the postal order and the cost of a registered letter. The £495 plus deal is a probably a scam and certainly a waste of money. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Don't touch with the proverbial bargepole.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

There is a thread on DFW about these. I'll merge this with that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Interesting article in the guardian last Saturday http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/nov/29/debt-creditcards
It appears that some banks will respond to individual claims but refuse to respond to claims handlers.
So the DFW/CAG £2 approach is more likely to lead to the debt being considered unenforceable than going to a claims handler. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I am sure that there has been MANY threads to this, but does this actually work?
I had a call today from a company saying that they can get copies of credit agreements and go through them and see if they are unforceable. It sounds VERY tempting, but there are fees behind them.
I would rather try and do this myself by using this website to send letters and try and work through it on my own - no fees to pay then.
I have wrote to my three credit cards and am about to write to my Hire Purchase company, Blackhorse, to get credit agreements from them.
The only thing where I will get stuck, is if they do send the agreements to me, I will NOT have a clue where to look and start picking out little things which would make it enforceable - which would make sense to pay these companies to do it for me.
Will this actually work - I am going to try and go as far as I can by doing it myself by using the template letters on this website - but do I have a chance?
Has anyone used these companies and won or on the verge of gaining something back?
Cheers

Hiya
There is a good thread 'CCA updates requests please' on here that has lots of info regarding what should be on the CCA (prescribed terms). Remember though that debts don't get 'written off' - it's always owed.
