Just got off the phone with sky - managed to get the 3mths at half price and also took away my Multiroom. The girl told me that this will change to freesat with the same card for no extra charge (will need to buy new card when they upgrade) :D:D:D:D

I called the number that was quoted above and got through to Livingston.

I have been with sky for 18 months or so, mostly paying the top package, but on advice from this site gave haggling a go.
I called them on 0800 5875707 When asked to press the * (star) key twice don't and just wait you be put through to Customer services

20 mins at 8p per min saved already
    (saynoto0870.com)

I said to them I simply couldnt afford Sky anymore for the time being, and would have to leave, and was immediately offered my package at half price for 3 months. I replied it was still too much, so we talked about downgrading, and when they offered me the 2 mix package at £7 per month for 6 months I gave in. For me I only owe them £14 up until mid Oct now, and thats just fine :T
I know I have an inferior service, but hey the footie's nearly finished and Ive saved £238.
    Great !!
  • I just was on the phone to SKY. In January I phoned SKY ( After reading advise on this site) and got them to reduce my normal £44,- charge to £18,- a month, for 3 months, after threatning to cancel. well the 3 months where comming to an end and I thought I'd try it again...and well it WORKED. I just said times are hard and I couldnt afford it any more and after a bit of talking to and fro the girl on the phone was more than willing to reduce the price again. total save? £156,- HAPPY DAYS. :j

It must be just me - i phoned them up - Said i wasnt happy with my full package - Just offered to downgrade me and went through all the options.

Obviously and went in from the wrong angle - What would you guys suggest as best approach? Thinking of changing to freeview - Cant really afford it anymore??

    What do you reckon??

Got half price for 6 mths tonight.

Been with Sky about 3 years. On the lowest package (15 for basic channels)

    My advice would be

    1) Get through to Customer Service. Ask about minimum notice to cancel and confirm that you are in a position to cancel. This gets the rep primed and thinking along your lines.

    2) Explain you are looking to make savings, love Sky but the other half says the outgoings must be cut !! You reckon that you can get the channels you mostly watch on Freeview.

    3) You'll probably be transferred at this point, if not before. Give the same story, explain that "It's going to be a pain to cancel and hassle to do, but I could really do with saving the money" The half price offer should come in. Sound surprised, state "That'd make things easier whilst saving money" and go from there.

    Bingo ! Job done.

    Question is, why don't I actually cancel and get Freeview . .. . . . :o

I got Sky in Feb,full package half price for 3 months, did it through Quidco got £50 from them, after the 3 months I rang them to go on the basic package £15 a month, the guy asked me why ,no tact as the OH always tells me. I said the Movie channel is cr*p,and the football season is nearly over,he offered me nought and I was put on basic package that night even though I still had 1 week of my offer to go.

I rang emailed customer services and they told me as soon as I ring up they will put me on the basic package, they also stated that I would pay £42,50 but nothing in June,so I cancelled my DD !!

We also got a 50% reduction for 3 months and then went to cancel and got another 3 months at 50%. Only trouble is, I would actually rather have Freeview and save the 100% but I'll never convince my other half if Sky keeps this up.

I phoned a few months ago to cancel but they wouldn't talk to me. They wanted my OH because it's in his name. I told him to hold out but now all we have is the basics for £15. We don't really miss it though but i'm sure I could have done better. He's rubbish.

Is it just me or do others find that SKY packages are getting too expensive, especially when they are the biggest in the UK.
I have had Sky + with them for over 3 years. During that time I have had the full premium package with them, I managed to get that reduced to half price for 3 months at the end of last year, however have now decided to reduce my package to a cheaper alternative. Anyway so I phone up Sky to get this done, I am told that because I am coming off a premium package and going on a cheaper package. (In effect cutting my monthly subscription from £42:50 a month to £21 ) I am told that in addition to my £21 a month new subscription, I will ALSO have to pay £10 per month extra to use the facility of Pausing and recording live TV, therefore putting my subscription up to £31 a month.
Its hidden away in their terms and conditions booklet, s if we read and understand them !!!!!!
Anyway just a warning to other members, be careful if you are trying to save money as SKY are making it difficult for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else had similar experiences with them ?
