Could somebody please provide some pointers for the arrangement of au pairs

You just have to go through the yellow pages and talk to the agencies and see what they have to match with your family. Although it is unlikely that they will get anyone until September ish now.
I used an agency in Birmingham - can't remember the name and had 3 girls from them, one was fantastic and stayed for about 18 months and still keeps in touch 7 years later, one was OK and stayed about 6 months and 1 was a nightmare and needed more looking after than my own children. It's a very hit and miss process and you have to remember that these are not live in babysitters but more of a help to the family in a big sister type role , equally they need support and guidance as they are only quite young and a long way from home.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.
  • thanks Gizmo, thats quite helpful :)

SS you might find that a live in nanny is actually closer to what they need to look for - more reliable and more trained than an aupair :)

Thank you so much all for your valuable comments. Well, she is already thinking along that lines to switch her career as a GP where she can manage her time more effectively. Still, she has to work for a while in the hospital before she could opt for being a GP. It is a matter of a couple of years, but these years would be challenging ones.

I guess au pair is the only viable option in this scenario, correct me please if I am wrong. Can anyone please recommend some reliable internt links, agency addresses to find au pairs? Probably, I am asking for too much but she is like the best ever friend of mine and it is really hard for me to see her struggling. I will definitely tell her about other options given by lovely members here, specially the ones put forth by Jog.;)

Au pairs are not an option if they are wanting full time care for their children, they are not trained and are only supposed to help out with light housework and the children for around 25 hours per week. A quick Google brings up this website with some information http://www.millenniumaupairs.co.uk/index.cfm?act=gen&page=au

Thanks Mrs. Tine. Any idea how much a full time live in nanny might charge them, what could be the best way to get hold of one. They live in Coventry area if that could be of any help in this regards.
  • Thanks Edinburghlass for your time, I take your advice on board too :)

It will be more costly, but getting a nanny would be much better than an au pair. Nannies are trained in childcare (unlike the au pair who's just looking for a job with a home attached) and her hours can be arranged to suit.

Google Nanny Agency for a nanny with proper references. At the end of the day, the care of our children is worth the extra money!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • You are absolutely right consultant31, cant agree with you any more :)
