WARNING: Steer clear of Dolphin Bathrooms!

I really wish my partner had looked online at all the poor reviews of Dolphin prior to agreeing for them to re-fit our bathroom.
Back at the end of March we had one of their salesmen come round and give us a quote for a new bathroom, including new suite, retiling round the bath and shower, new lighting, new boxing behind toilet and sink and new floor. We were quoted (after "discounts") just over £7000. The OH was really happy with this, particularly as we were informed that all the work would be done within 8 days and we wouldn't have to worry about arranging anything ourselves.
Work and delivery of all new items was booked in for 11th May. The fitters came that morning and ripped out all of the bathroom (apart from the toilet) in anticipation of being able to start work as soon as the delivery arrived. This is where our problems began. Our delivery arrived minus the stand for the new sink which we were then informed was out of stock. We were promised redelivery of said item 3 times before it eventually arrived yesterday and now we have to wait for our fitter to now be available to come and fit it. That means we have been without a bathroom sink for almost 4 weeks now.
I am absolutely infuriated with Dolphin. The stand was clearly available when we first placed the order and they had plenty of time before the fit was due to start to let us know if it was out of stock. Why then did they not inform us or the fitter before he ripped out our old sink?
The customer service we have received has been terrible. Our "project manager" was absolutely useless, making promises to call and let us know what was going on with the stand and never calling when she said she would so we've had to do all the running around after her. We then couldn't get hold of her at all because she'd gone off on leave and we were given no other point of contact!
That's not to mention the fact that our fitter was given different plans to what we had been given and started tiling in completely the wrong way that we had been led to believe. Not his fault at all and he rectified the problem straight away, but this added on another day to the time we had been promised it would be completed by. There were also things he hadn't been told to do that we were informed he would be doing. Luckily he's a very nice man who went ahead and did them anyway but this just goes to show what a cowboy outfit Dolphin really are.
They are absolutely useless and I'll be glad when they finally get this damn sink fitted and we can say goodbye to them forever.

After several quotes from various bathroom comnpanies small and large we wre persuaded by a very affable salesman to go with Dolphin for a make over to our small ensuite bathroom. Delivery arrived 22nd March installer started 27th March. The items were stored in our main bedroom. The installer noticed an item was missing - only to be told it was out of stock. We had been told to expect the guy to be there for 2 weeks. After that time he had by no means finished- the sink was chipped he had broken the shower tray and the missing unit was still missing! To cut a very long and tedious story short we have now been using the ensuite only 4 weeks having finally managed to get our bedroom free of bathroom bits and redecorated but there are still outstanding stags. The hinges are different on each cupboard and the cupboard back is too short so the top shelf can't be used! The delivery men scratched the paint in our hallway and still haven't compensated us. Dolphin refuse to discuss compensation for all the problems and poorly finished work. They had our money up front (a very big mistake!). We have complained to the Furniture Business Ombardsman but they are just as slow. Off to a solicitor next!:j0

Why ANYONE use Dolphin/Moben/Sharps/Space Kitchens is beyond me...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I used Dolphin recently for a new complete bathroom refit. I have to say that my experience has been entirely positive. A complete design service which incorporated a fair degree of price compromise, delivery on the date stated, and installation was complete and perfect, in 4 working days. The bath delivered had a crack in it which the fitter spotted, so I decided to keep my original bath and Dolphin credited me with £300.00 within 2 days. The fitters were amazing, doubled/tripled checked everything and were good enough to arrive early at my request. I am very happy with my bathroom, though I agree it wasn't cheap.0

Oh really? How long have you worked for them?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I do wish people on MSE weren't so narrow minded when people support a company. Why assume they must work for the company if they are openly positive about them ?
I do appreciate that this was MMCs first post, but everyone has to start somewhere.
I was recently accused of working for a car main dealership because I was positive about their service, and in the past I've been accused of being an estate agent when making comments about house prices (neither of which are true)
Why are people so narrow minded ?Legal team on standby0 -

Because this is a post about Dolphin bathrooms, they don't do good, or even average, they only do f***-ups...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Now, I could understand that if the thread was on the first page, but the thread was over a month old when the poster replied, meaning he had to have searched. So, rather than just happening to see a thread about dolphin, he was actively looking for one. Seems strange when he claims he had no problems with the company at all, and his bathroom is all sorted.
p.s. I do wish they'd move the 'Thank' button to the other side of the screen. Grrr lolThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
