Hello again Taye - good to see you around again.
I'm not very good at the technical aspects of all this (thankfully there are others who are!) but could you get advice from CAB about the joint debts if ex has really disappeared? It seems unfair that he just skips off with his credit rating intact while you scrape to pay it. Do the CSA know where he is?

Nope no-body on the planet seems able to find him i don't recive CSA because of this, all people can say is that untill he appear's on a radar there is nothing i can do, as far as im aware he's not paying any tax, bills or anything else where ever the hell he might be. We suspect his sister know's where he is but she ain't talking.

Hi. Would working part time be an option at all? with paying so much out in childcare you may be better off working less hours? You'd have to do the sums of course. Just a thought.
The other thing is the childcare is such a high element of your budget (even though it does sound quite cheap at 4 an hour) do you have any neighbours/friends at all that would help look after the kids?
I know you said you work in banking - have you spoken to a union rep at all? it seems unfair you are in such a position as it sounds like a lot of the debt was down to the relationship with the ex.
Perhaps a change of career might help so you can do a dmp?
Anyway hope that gives you a few thoughts.
    Best of Luck

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
£4 per hour per child is expensive, do you not get a sibling discount for one of them. Just had a thought do they go to before and after school clubs is that why childcare is so high rather than a childminder. 4 hours every day is a lot as well unless you have a long distance to travel for work. Does the childcare increase for school holidays.
Could you look into possibly going onto interest only on the mortgage for a while to clear the debts. Then once thay are cleared concentrate on over paying on the mortgage to pay it off on time. Would you be able to get a mortgage payment holiday for a few months? Maybe 1 month into savings (so you have something for presents and car) and then use the other months to pay off the £448 credit card giving you another £20 spare each month.

Also do you have a credit union at all where you could get a loan and pay off the card with the highest apr? to help ease the pressure a little?

Don't know if this would help at all but do you have a timebank/lets scheme near you? You could earn credits by giving your time eg helping at fetes/fairs, cooking, cleaning, gardening, dog walking, etc and then swap some credits to get some jobs done around the house eg the electrics - (obviously make sure they are a qualified electrician though).

    Hi Taye
    Found this
    http://www.webuser.co.uk/specials/268118.html
which gives some ideas on finding people. You have more incentive than the agencies so they might not be trying very hard. It might be worth a go if you've got some time on your hands.
Your childcare does sound a bit high - is this an after school club?

Thanks not sure if it would be any help though, he's actually purposefully hiding to get out of CSA/debts so in fairness im pretty sure he's not even using his real name (how melodramatic does that sound haha)

the childcare is a childminder, im limited tbh as childminders tend to pick up and drop off from specific schools and i could only find a few that did my kids school and could take on 2 kids.

I've looked at part time, but tbh with the childcare element from tax credits it is just about worth me working full time as most of my credits are for childcare... i could reduce my hours/childcare costs but my credits reduce accordingly its just not worth it.. at least by working full time i hope to eventually have some sort of career rather than resigning myself to benifits.

Don't give up you are doing so well.
You are raising 2 fantastic children there, you must be so proud.
Life is hard when you feel like you are always swimming against the tide.
Your children will remember the good times when they are grown up, they won't remember not having an Ice-cream.
Just think, when it is all paid and you will be able to help your children with your grandchildren, so it is all worth while, even if the goal at the moment is in the far distance.
