As I said previously, T Mobile & Tesco Mobile at the only networks I know that you can put a stop to these unsolicited texts.

Add Vodafone to that. Their account holders have been able to place a bar on premium rate texts since September 1st 2008 after pressure was placed on them by some of us via their in house e-forum. It is not a service that they will offer you or even tell you about and when I tried to place the bar on my daughters new PAYT account (Purchased against my advice) I was informed that it was not possible. It took nearly three weeks for VF to agree to place the bar by which time the new handset had been unlocked and a T-Mobile sim is now used.

    Hi

I text what i thought was a competition on number 84100, since then i have been receiving crude messages on my phone, i contacted my provider and they gave me a number of the company, when i called it went to an answering machine. I did text "stop" and got the confrmation text saying that i was unregistered so i thought all was fine untill i received another text this morning which everytime i get one they take £1.50 of my credit, does anyone know how i can make sure that these are stopped or who i can get in contact with to complain.

    Thanks for any help.

yes complain to your network provider.........!

my daughter had the same issue some time ago, when we raised it with the network provider at the time (o2), they put a block on it

hey lexie, thanks for your reply. I was kinda worried that i was alone with this problem :p

I've checked my balance and it looks like i havent been charged. :T
So i'm not too worried about it, have you checked yours?
(Are you on contract oe pay as you go? hmmm)

p.s: (in case people dont know how: Send a blank text to 21202 then it'll give you a message back within 5 mins with update on your balance - O2 contract only)
  • This is one of the companies that do the practise of sending unwanted and unsolicited texts to phones numbers. (FACT - if they knew who they were sending texts to they'd know your name when they call and they dont.)

Debt Advisory Centre is a trading style of Freeman Jones Limited.
Carlton House, Vere Street, Salford M50 2GQ,
    0161 4293790

If you get a text about debt advice that does not have the option to say stop in the text. Then the chances are it is DAL Solutions - I think from memory it may include their name. I have many texts from them and if you text stop they will call you. In fact if you text something rude they will call you - I wont tell you what my two word reply was but it generated a call. :). I wanted to know who it was so I could warn other people. This kind of marketing should be illegal and is praying on people and is wrong. its also really annoying to people like me who get these every few days and dont need advice or help or never need injury lawyers. If you get a text and it has DAL in the text or you think it is from them complain to Salford trainings standards. Google them and send an email. I know watchdog have run an article on these text so keep it and email them too. Perhaps we can shame these companies into stopping.
