    Hi,
i have just put a new cartridge in my hp 1317 printer and i have a few documents on my laptop 'pending'.
I have plugged the lead into the usb port as normal and expected it to print straight away, but nothing happens??
When i click on the printer icon at the bottom right hand corner of the screen, on the first document, it says 'error - restarting'
    Can anyone help??
    Many thanks..
ps, please don't say i have to delete the pending documents (which is the only solution i can find when i use my friend 'google) i NEED those documents!!
Did you change any settings or drivers, or did you just change the cartridge.

If only the cartridge, I would open the print queue, pause all documents, then try and print a test page and trouble shoot your problem...that way you won't lose your print docs:beer:
It's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)

I have been loathe to pm you as I can only imagine the amount of post you've had from IT illiterates like myself but have followed your instructions to the letter ** almost (will explain) and no joy as yet. I see you recommend an uninstall of IE and that is the only step of the instructions I have missed.....not because I ommitted it for speed but when I went to add/delete programs I was not given the option to delete this program although was on almost everything else. I have googled as google is my dearest friend and cannot find an answer to this...although I know that you will now be rolling your eyes to the ceiling! Any ideas:rolleyes:

Hi Jan, if you look further up this thread, you will see someone else asked the same thing, and there is a link to how to uninstall from microsoft:beer:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 Hi just noticed you tried googling...if this isn't the right version for you try googling "uninstall IE" with the version number at the end
It's nice to be nice .....

    Thank you,
I have tried that, but in the trouble shoot, it doesn't say anything about not printing at all.
I have just looked again when i click on the small printer icon and it says hp1317 - out of paper at the top, but it is definitly not out of paper??

Right, I'm at a total loss now. For some reason I can't do a system restore to any day other than yesterday ( wont allow me to go back a month either) I can't figure out how to uninstall IE & ( even after googling) It won't allow it in the 'add/remove programmes, so I'd need to use the other option, and TBH that's getting a bit too technical for me

I'm !!!!!!! hacked off with myself for finding the warby's link in the first place, and I didn't even print many either :rolleyes:

What are the chances of it miraculosly fixing itself

Possibly a sensor problem.....download the manual and see what it says for the error codes/lights for the machine...and google all kinds of variations such as HP1317 not printing, HP1317 paper out, etc etc...If you were going to ask for elp on an HP forum what would you say....then google it!

Round about the chance of enjoying a fart in a space-suit:rotfl:

Looks like you have the same problem as m4tin and a few others, who have turned off/limited their system restore options....having used windows fot too many years, I used to find it one of the best features....now I avoid windows, unless I'm couponning!

Can't find VC's post to quote, but I have been for months having trouble with Internet Explorer being very slow late at night. Thought it was laptop and computer overloaded. Anyway according to Mr Know it all VC :rotfl: about 11pm our time is when a lot of people come on line in America, which slows down it down, but firefox put on more servers at this time, so anybody who likes late night internet useage, firefox (apparently) will be quicker (I'm sure VC will correct if not quite accurate);)
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Cheers Vc, def playing up, or should I say it's working differently...have to hit the F5 key most times now...never had to before, will be OK when I calm down after a stressful week of techie probs....hopefully new laptop will be glitch free....and should be able to cook my Aunt Bessies again as new cooker element should be here today.....I actually use my Aunt Bessies mocs for their products....time they added some more..

but there are no error lights coming up??
i have tried googling, all i can find is the dell page where i am trying to chat with someone on line, but its not connecting me through for some reason,
I found something else out last night..
my husbands laptop, if i connect that to the printer it prints fine, so its obviously a problem with my laptop, is it because of all the pending documents, i don't have these documents saved anywhere, so really need to print them, do you have any ideas what this might be now??
    Thankyou xXx
