So SJC, it seem like MRC you got a letter hence how you managed to upgrade early... So maybee if ppl do the priority list method they wont be able to upgrade to the simonly tariff..., why not try it Barry in couple weeks and get back to us if you succeed or not (if that is you are a Gold member at least.)

My last email from O2 in November 08 said I was on Silver Priority level, however since then I have taken out O2 Mobile & Home broadband, which should put me up to Gold according to the T's & C's however had no email confirmation. Plus I upgraded 4 months early, and Gold says your eligible 3 months early and 6 months for Platinum.
    Cheers

I pay £35 a month for 600 mins contract, £7 quid odd insurance and home broadband of £7.50.

Does this make me a gold?

My contract renewal date is 16 September.

that would tech me switching between T&C and the
http://www.o2blueroom.co.uk/O2PriorityList/ land page where it have the plantium as well.

    anyway

If you increase the amount you spend on your mobile to over £50 a month, you'll move up to gold and get even more:
    • Priority customer service
    • You can renew your contract three months early
    • A greater choice of Bonus Treats
    • Free ticket offers for special events
so if you add your insurance and broadband you might just get the £50 level to get into gold. (might be worth upgrading the insurance or something to push it up).

As an O2 Priority List gold customer, if you're on an 18- or 24-month contract you can get a new phone three months early, or choose from:
    • One of our 30-day or 12-month simplicity tariffs, which offer the most minutes and texts from £10 a month, or
    • A credit on your bill if you don't need a new phone
And when you do renew, you can take your pick of the same offers that our new customers get. We call it Fair Deal.

So if you just get into Gold you will be able to move to sim only from the 15-17th June.

NB: I dont think by reading the FAQ the insurance are included so you might just miss out :-(

Doesn't work as easy as that, you don't get assessed every month, its about once a year, and it not just off your last months spend, you have to have a proven spend over the year of over £50 per month and also have a great history of paying.

Things like broadband are not included, its banded per mobile number, not customer.

no one is saying it is a month by month thing. I myself think he has miss it cause going by what it says in the T&C. Like you said it is an annual thing it is review but that annual date could be for example in July or August or September. (granted it would most likely be either in September or March (ie 12 months from when the contract was started.) Even if he put line rental up now, since it look at the last four months bill and take the lowest one, he would still have 3 months behind him at the lower rate :-(. But one thing it does state broadband is included in the T&C

    New customers to O2

    1. As a new customer, your membership Level will be determined by the following criteria:
      1. The Tariff you initially connect to will determine the membership level achievable (see the O2 Priority List Portfolio Tariff* table below showing the Levels by Tariff); and
      2. If you connect to O2 Home Broadband and have connected to the O2 400 or O2 1200 minute tariffs, then you will move up to the next Level; and
      3. The total spend on your second bill may move you to a higher Level depending on spend:
        • blue - total spend up to £35
        • silver - total spend between £35.01 - £50
        • gold - total spend between £50.01 - £80
        • platinum - total spend over £80

      Existing O2 customers

    2. For existing customers already connected to an O2 Priority List Portfolio Tariff*, the membership Level of your Account will be determined by the following criteria ("the Existing Customer Qualifying Criteria"):
      1. Your current Tariff will determine the membership level achievable (see the O2 Priority List Portfolio Tariff* table below showing the Levels by Tariff); and
      2. If you have connected to O2 Home Broadband since your last review and are connected to the O2 400 or O2 1200 tariffs, then you will move up to the next Level; and
      3. The lowest bill spend of the last four bills available at the time of the review. Lowest mobile bill spend is the total monthly invoiced spend shown on your O2 bill.("Qualifying Spend") This may move you up to a higher Level depending on spend:
        • blue - total spend up to £35
        • silver - total spend between £35.01 - £50
        • gold - total spend between £50.01 - £80
        • platinum - total spend over £80
It is complex but it still stand saying one cant upgrade early is wrong depending on person situation which the OP have not told us. And one could always "pay up what is remaining of their contract and than do an upgrade that way. - granted that way wont be free".

All of this is explain in complete detail in the T&C which I posted a link to to save posting every single bit of it. But here is other important factor.

"If you connected to O2 via Carphone Warehouse before 18 September 2007 you are not eligible to join O2 Priority List."

How can I increase my lowest mobile bill spend to move up a level?

By increasing how much you spend on your phone, choosing a higher phone tariff, or adding a Bolt On.
Your lowest mobile bill spend in the four months before your 12-month review has to be high enough for the next level. For example, if you wanted to move up to platinum, your new minimum spend would need to be over £80 a month.

Who can join O2 Priority List?

New O2 Pay Monthly contract customers automatically join the O2 Priority List within five months of connection to O2 – providing they have selected an O2 Priority List Portfolio tariff* or the total value of their second bill fits in one of the following entry levels:
    • blue – spend up to £35
    • silver – spend between £35.01 - £50
    • gold – spend between £50.01 - £80
    • platinum – spend over £80
Existing O2 Pay Monthly contract customers can join the O2 Priority List if they have selected an O2 Priority List Portfolio tariff* or their lowest total bill spend within the last four bills fits in one of the following entry levels:
    • blue – spend up to £35
    • silver – spend between £35.01 - £50
    • gold – spend between £50.01 - £80
    • platinum – spend over £80
Either way, if you also have an "O2 Home Broadband connection, this could make a difference." Please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.
