No because this is a different contract, not a tariff. You can have the sim only once it comes to your upgrade date.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

to the original poster, there is a person who did actually go down to sim only "early" using the upgrade route. I myself would never throught of that nor have I tried it. So I dont know would it actually work. But if assuming what they said is true that might be an option for you. I will post the link to that discussion so you can see if it is suitable for you or not ie if you are on a 12 month contract not 18 month for example.

As iwanttosave said, you can't move down to a simplicity as it's a different contract. Generally have to wait 'till official upgrade date or you may receive a early upgrade letter/email. Otherwise, try phoning a week or so early as it's easier to be upgraded to a simplicity normally.0

Thanks for the replys.0

you can upgrade earlier MRC in fact remember quite a while ago O2 had tariffs where it was even built in where one could change handsets etc.. But what surprise me was in the other forum they managed to upgrade 4 months early and reduce the line rental. For the OP might be worth calling up and give it a go, all they can do is say "NO". If they say yes, than save some money :-)0

Yes, you can upgrade if you have received an early upgrade mailer either through email or post. - If not, not a chance if months away.0 -

"How far away from an upgrade is he?
Reason I ask is they can offer early upgrades and transfer you to a Simplicity Monthly contract, I have recently been offered and done this as it saves me £15/Mth and in effect finishes my 18 month contract 4 months early.
You say you can't afford the Contract and wish to transfer to a Simplicity Monthly one, lowest price is £9.68/Mth IIRC, once this has gone through you can then cancel giving 30 days notice and not impact your credit score or future history.
Just a thought."
So going by what he said, the original poster might be after 4 months if he / she is in the Plantium group can upgrade 6 months early and move to the simplicity one than, which is only 2 - 3 months away now.0 -
So what you are saying I can just phone up and get moved to a simplicity contract? I have 3 1/2 months left on my 02 contract.0
-
Yes, I moved from a 18 Month Contract paying £34.25 a month which was bought at an O2 Shop to the Simplicity £19.58 a month and got 600 Mins/1200 Texts and Unlimited Web. I just received a letter through the post, but when I phoned up they originally denied all knowledge saying my contract didn't epire until the end of September 09. I explained the letter and they did the upgrade, but needed a managers approval to do it.
Don't know why I got the offer as I never use up or spend my allowance, and was surprised I could go to the Simplicity 1 Month Contract, I was wondering where the catch was. But got all the letters from them now and online it has my Contract expiring 27th June, so well please got a better deal, no contract and saved £15 a monthCheers

I myself never done it Barry but going by other poster who have yes. "But going by that link I just posted it depends on your monthly spend. If we say you wait 2 weeks so you fall into the 3 month early option. You need to be a "GOLD & 18 month contract." To be class as a Gold customer you need to be spending at least £34.25 a month ie on the 600 minutes per month tariff. If one on a rentention deal not sure but the impression I get from the T&C on that link is that they still class you spending £34.25 (for status purposes) if your bill is £24.25 due to a £10 discount from rentention. You will need to call customer service to do this early upgrade, so cant goto say CPW / O2 shop / phones4u etc and do it.
If you goto this discussion http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...html?t=1726045 you can ask the actual person direct how he managed to upgrade early and got put onto simonly tariff.0
