    From this week's Popb i t c h:
Which hirsute TV comic was the subject of a prank
by his fellow TV show team after he mentioned
something on air about Sarah Beeny's breasts?
His pals spent hours afterwards texting him
pretending to be an amorous Ms Beeny
while "she" and the comedian texted each other
all they mucky things they wanted to do?

They decieve themselves into thinking it was their.skill that delivered the large profits.

Take away HPI and they are revealed as the ignorant chancers that they are.

The father of the young-man (29?)... with him I got the impression he'd seen others do it on the TV over the years.. had sneered a bit, but time-over these clowns pulling out tens-of-thousands+ of profit. Seen his own property rise in value.. and the busts of the past now over in Gordon's new paradigm.

Imagining that he'll invest and appear on the show, be the supporting parent to his son... and it will all go smoothly for a big profit for them all. Then he'll step in to the bar at his golf/rugby/cricket club where he can bask in the recognition from fellow members.

Okay, not Property ladder, but did anyone see Homes UTH on Weds BBC1? filmed in February 2008. Welsh bloke, Doug, had bought a flat to do up and rent. He had bought 12 properties within five months as BTL's, remortgaging each one to buy the next. He planned to have a £50 million portfolio within a few years - 50 houses within the next 2 years alone.

He come over as a very greedy little man, bragging about his grandiose sheme. Was this sort of lending still available in Feb 2008 - hadn't things all started going a bit pear-shaped by then? Martin did explain that actually the banks would own his portfolio, though he would benefit from capital growth and rent yield. I wonder what is happening with his plans to conquer the Welsh property market and how many of these places are now in negative equity.

I think Beeney is one of the better property-!!!!!! presenters. I think she does at least seem to know what she is talking about. She comes over as a much nicer person than Allsop or Naomi Cleaver and doesn't take herself too seriously when I've seen interviews with her. Who do you prefer, Asbo?
  • she also has the magical ability to be pregnant on and off throughout a series

I'll post this thought because it's been niggling. Excellent bear program obviously and most enjoyable. But I suspect they didn't know at the start how things pricewise would turn out. Therefore some good editing ties it all together and makes Sarah look like a sage.

After all, even I could say "they only go up" or "they're going to crash" and my editor could make me look like a gnu several months later.

ps. sorry if the gnu thing is irritating - I like it.

Of course it does, but she has always said that the market won't rise forever and can go the other way. She has also said on the programme that if you are planning to BTL you should be looking for a 10% yield as anything less isn't worth the hassle

I don't like seeing people fail, the bit I object to is when they're all c0cky and arrogant and speak as if they're God and really KNOW what they're doing when all they're really doing is 'what everybody else is, what the telly people are doing'.

Many people do well not because they work harder or are smarter, but because they were in the right place at the right time and had never had knock backs ... she was in the right place at the right time for the first one and now is starting to find out about life's little knock backs.

For her mum's sake, I hope she doesn't lose out ... just fails to "realise the profits that are yet to materialise" to quote somebody else who thought he was God.
