Does the buyer have a mailing address in the UK? I'm in Germany but have a UK address for posting things to. Of course, I normally email the seller before the EOA to let them know because I'm afraid they'll cancel my bid.
Turns out its actually cheaper to send it to Eire than in the uk - random!0 -
I'm back. After a virtually sleepless night worrying, I have managed to get a few hours this morning and it hasn't made me feel any better at all
Have done a lot of crying and being scared. I honestly never knew pregnancy would be so terrifying. Even though I know that at this point babies usually survive, I'm still petrified of losing it.
To expand on what the MW said, she started off saying I was 'very neat' which is what everyone says. Then after doing my bloods and blood pressure (which is low but that's normal for me) she got me to lie on the floor (this was at home). I put a cushion under my head cos I remember Sami saying it makes a difference to the measurement.
She measured once, and it came up as 31cms, which she said was OK, as it was within three cms of my weeks number, but then she felt around and decided to do it again.
This time, she got 29.5cms, which as I am supposed to be 32/33 weeks, could be OK but might also not be, so she decided to send me for a scan.
She listened for the HB and found it low down on the right hand sode of my body which is where the GP found it last time. It was strong and good - it is 154 bpm when last time she did it, it was 130. THe other times it's been done it's been noted as 140-150 and 150-160, so I think the 130 was an abberation.
Then she asked if I knew what it was, and whe I said no she was quiet, so I said 'you're welcome to guess if you'd like' so then she said she thinks it's a girl, although I didn;t ask why.
Then she felt around (I think this is the right order of things - it's a bit of a blur) and took ages. I could see she wasn;t sure about things and she did try and talk to me a bit but was obviously concentrating.
She felt down near my bits and was very happy that it was a head, but when she felt the bottom she said she was able to 'blob' it which she shouldn;t be able to do to a bottom. I have no idea what she meant and didn;t ask, but she felt the head again and then round the sides, and felt the hard bits I've always thought were feet and eventually said she didn;t know what was what in there and the scan would show.
She has written head down on my notes though, but when I asked could it be back to back she said she'd have expected to have trouble finding the HB if that were teh case.
HAving thought about it since, I wonder it it might be side to back? Can they do that? I mean, could it have the head down, but have its left shoulder facing my tummy and the back shoulder facing my back? That way she'd get the heart easily but the bottom would be around my side and the bit she thought was a bottom might be knees/legs?Skinty - I'm sure you'll be fine, sounds like the MW was either useless or bubba was playing hide and seek in there
The MW I saw on Tuesday spent ages faffing about touching my bump, in the end I told her where he was and she said "oh yes your right" seriously I thought she was the one trained to know these things!
Also I really don't see why a baby that is guesstimated to be under 7lb can't be born at home, the MWs are fully aware that Chris was 6lb 12oz and no-one has a problem with that. A full term baby is generally not considered to be small unless they are less than 2500g which is about 5 1/2 lbs
She wasn;t saying I can;t have a HB. She said that if it's small I will go under consultant care, and that she (the consultant) will want me to have a hospital birth.
She also said that if the baby is born at home and is under 3kg (7lbs) then it will have to go into hospital shortly after birth to be checked over. She did add that it depends on the Mw, and that they might decide to leave me a couple of hours and check the baby again and if it's not losing weight or struggling I could stay at home, but it depends on the MW and I have no idea who I will get.Skinty - Sam was expected to be in the late 7lb - 8lb range - but was 5lb 13.5. He's on the bottom centile and is (at 13 days) 49cm long - so short too! My others were 7-2, 7-4 and 7-10. Number 3 was estimated to be 9lb+.
My bump was small - I only looked pg from side on, as it was all front and my waist still went very 'in' - also my hips were smaller (I'm a size smaller in clothes now than when I got pg - sorry peeps!!) (well, my b00bs aren't, but waist/ bum are!) I also managed to wear some non maternity clothes right throughout and in fact my maternity trousers that I did have started to fall down from month 8 as they had become too big!!
What the m/wives and hv have all said is that Sam is small but perfect - the only extra care I've had is one more m/w visit than normal to check weight and jaundice because of his size (his jaundice has only just gone) We were out of hosp 3.5 hours after birth, and that was only because of paperwork delays. They were that unconcerned by his size that they didn't even weigh him for an hour! (left him on me skin to skin until I went for a bath)
Ooh - and I know someone who had a 7lb+ baby yesterday (1 day early) whose bump was v small and neat - and still very high when I saw her on Monday!!
I know someone who's had a homebirth of a 6lb 2 baby - baby was expected to be small and it wasn't a prob. Some m/ws are just meaner than others
greent x
I don;t know if she meant to be mean - I think my area they are very hospital-based and she was warning me of that I suppose.chopsticks wrote: »OK, have caught up!!!
Lots of hugs to Skinty. One of my friends had her baby a few months ago. All through her pregnancy the MW told her that she was having a small baby (my friend isn't very big anyway) and to expect a 6lb-er. Baby came out at 7lb 1oz - so, not the biggest baby but certainly not the smallest! When MW saw her, she said "I don't know where you were hiding her".
My baby is also back to back at the moment, although the head is down. I'm currently doing exercises each night to try and get him/her to shift into the right position.
What exercises do you do? If my scan shows I'm back to back I will need to get doing those too!
I have just had another look at my notes, and if I go by my MW's EDD and not the one from the private scan, then the baby's FH is just on the lower line of the acceptable size, so if it is small then I don;t think it is THAt small.
The MW did say that the baby has grown and although she wanted me to have the scan within a week, and said it was important, surely if she was very worried she'd have got me a sooner appointment?
Also, when she measured me, she asked ME if she was on the public bone! I don;t know! I have no idea where you are supposed to measure from! Isn;t she supposed to know?
Oh yeah, one more thing! She told me that a full-time MW is supposed to have 28 women under her care, and she is part-time (three days a week) and has 78  No wonder she forgets things.
Sorry for the essay all about me, I'm just still so scared and not sure i can wait a week - I need sensible comments from my preggy buddies!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
