    I totally sympathise with you DD&D! To be honest, a lot of our debt is from my OH starting hobby and 'having to have the right stuff'. Lets see .... over the years we've had;

    1. Fly fishing - The rods cost over £300 alone! and then it costs £15.00 to go for the day, plus the licence etc.

    2. Golf - MUST have a decent set of clubs to be expected to play well. Must join the golf club ... HOW MUCH!!

    3. Want to learn to play the guitar - Have to buy a decent one (same theory as golf clubs!) before I start to learn.

    4. Metal Detecting - It's no good having a cheap one you know ... you'll never find anything with a detector under £100.

    5. Keeping Fish - Must make a pond, with a filter, with a water feature, with plants, with proper pond liner (v expensive) and of course fish!

This is just some of my OH's 'wants' which seem to be endless. Today it's a Landrover Discovery ... I think not!!

Anyway, rant over and thanks for starting this thread for me to be able to vent my anger!

Hahaha that should go on the Extreme MoneySaving thread under "Money saving mind games" lol

I love that!!!! You should ask martin if we could have that one, its a multi-functional heading. Mind games with relatives could go under the Family and Relationships forum, but it could equally apply to creditors too!! :money: :T

  • OK... tell him you'll go along with it BUT...

...The only footie is to be under the table, with you
...The only team he can play for is your marriage
...The only goal he is allowed is the one of reducing all your debts
...The only pints he is allowed are water after working a sweat in the garden
...He can see as much of his mates as he wants.. they can all help him in the garden
...If he knuckles down to it he can have all the kit he wants... yours (sorry! ;) )

Then you should both be happy :)

And good luck... he doesn't deserve you!

i like the idea of this thread!
my rant is about O2. I called to cancel in early march but got offered a deal I couldn't refuse (£10 a month from 25th march) except, get march bill & have been charged old rate, and also went over on texts so bill was £46!
Long story short (I'm sick of going over it) they will credit me on the next bill, but my point to them is I can't afford for the £46 to go from my account.

So I have cancelled & am now looking for a pay as go you deal, with a cheap phone - any ideas anyone? Tesco seems good but there phones are rubbish. I don't want to spend more than £30 on a phone & actually would prefer to spend £20!

    Hi D&DD

I want to thank you so much for this thread. I am yet to post my SOA on here, but we are massively in debt. I have started a second job to get the income in to repay the debts sooner. I told my husband how much I had made, unfortunately on the same day as he and his mates were going to a PING open day. He came back and said that I wasn't going to be happy.... he'd bought a half set of made to measure golf clubs for £350.00. When I went deathly white, grey around the gills and silent; he stared at me and said that he had been good, as his mate had bought a full set.

He's about to go away soon on yet another golfing weekend. When he's gone, I'm going to Ebay everything he owns!!! See how he likes that....

    What do you think...????
