Thomas cook is far from a debt riddled company...

Thomas Cook is sitting on a mountain of debt... The financial press reports..

"Analysts are fretting over higher interest payments after a sharp rise in the company's net debt to £1bn.

"[Thomas Cook] announced a jump in interest charges to £69.6m, up from £10.7m... (F.T. 15 May, 2009)
"There maybe job losses but all well run companies streamline to keep themselves afloat."
The rumour mill is reporting on the vulture capitalists who circle above the stricken tour operator. If they can browbeat Arcandor's creditors, they could take the beleaguered company into private hands, perhaps in collusion with the existing Quisling management. Once on the books of a private equity house, TC would doubtless find itself asset-stripped. Redundancies could be in the tens of thousands..
