Help Son in Law got Holiday Problems!! Advice Please

Hi folks looking for some advice for my son-in-law and will try to keep it brief.
He is about to get married, booked a honeymoon, all inclusive to Tunisia, with a travel agent discovered he didn't have a passport which would take 6 weeks to arrive (new application)(yes he'e a silly billy but that's a whole other issue), and would therefore be too late for the holiday. Asked the travel agent if they could change it to later in the year, any holiday would do, and they have been told a blunt NO because the tickets have already been issued. I have read the T&C's and this does not figure, it states that they will try and help. Any advice as to where he stands would be wonderful.

Is it posible for him to make an appointment to go to the passport office so he can get the passport more quickly?

New passport applications take 6 weeks no way around that I am afraid.

They don't always. He might as well apply anyway, if it doesn't arrive in time he would have lost the holiday anyway.
    No harm in trying

    Hi Buxtonrabbitgreen

When is your son-in-law due to travel?

Also the new 6 week waiting time is only for those who have never held a British passport before. If he's previously had a passport but it's expired he can still do a fast-track application.

I agree with Sidefx. It's best to try and apply for the passport ASAP and hope for the best that it gets done quicker.

He is due to travel on June 14th, passport application still has 4 weeks left to run its course despite ringing every day! It is a new application and he needs an interview as well.

When ringing them up have you explained the circumstances and asked whether there was any way they would fast-track the interview date?

Surely if you explained and provided proof of travel they would be willing to be more flexible?
