There are a few newer turkish baths in hotels but the best of all is the old one in the old town at Fethiye. Really authentictravelover0

Thanks for all ya responses everyone!
Cant wait to go, still havent booked anything yet, we were advised by the travel agent (!) to wait a few weeks and book a late deal as the price comes down quite a bit, just hope there are some places left now that weve left it for a while!
Anyone any reports or have stayed at Leda hotel, mellis hill hotel, morina, manzara, or gonul??? few there i know, but the reviews on some of these go from extreme to the other....im thinking that looking on tripadvisor etc is making it hard to pick a hotel to stay in, reviews on there are enough for you to never go on hol again!!!0 -

Stay clear of the tour operator trips as you'll end up on an overcrowded conveyor line experience which isn't relaxing at all.
We stayed at the Alize hotel and I had a bath with my two sons in the hotel. I'm not sure if non-residents can use it too. It was in a small private hamman with just me and the boys present so it was very peaceful and relaxing.
My husband went to the H2O bath which is underneath the Dorian Hotel (towards the back of the resort but before the mosque). He said it was full of Turkish people so it was much more authentic and he loved joining in with their day to day life. I wish we'd gone there now! Here I go again on my own....0 -
Hi everyone again,
Sorry to be a pain (!) but we havent booked hol yet, we wanna get it booked this week. Just wondered if anyone been to ovacik, and is it worth staying there and travelling to olu deniz, hisaronu and fethiye from there? Travel agent suggested this as she said we would end up leaving olu frequently anyway to vist elsewhere as it is really small, is this true?
Just dont wanna going to olu and never being there, iykwim.0 -
It depends on what you want from the holiday. Ovacik and Hisaronu are up in the mountains, so it's a bus ride or taxi when you want to go to the beach. Hisaronu is more lively on a night and Ovacik is quieter.
I preferred Olu as we prefer being on the beach so we can wander down to it at anytime, and we didn't want noisy nightlife. Olu has the lagoon too and the boat trips leave from the beach. There's enough shops, bars and restaurants to keep us amused. It is quite small though, and Hisaronu has a wider variety of shops etc., plus attractions like mini go-karts and huge inflateables and stuff like that.
https://www.oludenizmap.com will give you an idea of the size of the resort. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Ovacik un my opinion is very small, more like a road through to the next town, it has a water park which is good for a morning or afternoon. Hisaronu is much larger than ovacik, and a bit Blackpooley (in my opinion) and as others have said no beach nearby. Olu Deniz is definately your best bet, I think it is larger than Hisaronu, there is the beach, boat rides, the lagoon, shops and many many restaurants and hotels. I think if you stayed in Olu Deniz and ventured out to Hisaronu you would be happy with your decision.Trainee Wakeboarder, Fashion and celebrity devotee!0

Oh dear.....we booked the hol yday to ovacik......
Hope it will be ok. We plan to go to few different places rather than stuck in one place, thats why decided to go there as its in middle.....went to icemeler couple of years ago, and we found that we were just walking around the same places all the time, it was so small, went for a day to marmaris and we absolutely hated it, so we were stuck with icemeler for 2 weeks. we plan on going to beach a few times, but we dont really go on beach everyday, so thats a good job!! hahaha.
we are going in Sept so will let you know what we thought of the place! Thanks guys.

Just read your post - have been to Ovacik twice and preferred to stay there than Olu Deniz. Being higher up the air is cooler and fresher. Very easy to get about by dolmus that stops all along the main road. It is easy to walk to Hisaronu but we found it cheaper and found more authentic turkish restaurants in Ovacik. Dolmuses run very often to Olu Deniz so you will not be restricted for beach visits. Some hotels run free buses to the blue lagoon, but if you have the contact nos of the various beaches on the blue lagoon they will come and pick you up and drop you back to your hotel. They charge for sunbeds etc (as they do on the main beach) but we found the prices there very reasonable for food and drink as well. As two of our party were not strong swimmers they preferred to swim in the lagoon.
Book trips locally not via hotels as they are much cheaper - boat trips from Fethiye were very good value and they would pick up and drop back to hotels. Would also recommend a trip to Saklikent gorge, Tlos and Yakapark this was an excellent day out.
Have a great holiday0 -
Joyful, thank you so much for posting, that has made me feel even better! I was thinking, and hoping that ovacik was like that. And i just cant wait to go! Ha. It seemed like a better option in the end for us, rather than being stuck in one place. Thanks again.:j0
