That's right (about reclaiming charges). For the "normal" charges I ran up with HSBC years ago, I put in a claim at about the time everything stopped while the test cases went through court.

I would have about £500 of charges with HSBC but it has come to a standstill at the moment.

Anyway, both those letters have been sent by recorded delivery. I thought if they knocked the mysterious £3000 of charges off and MCS let me pay 50% of the total I still owe, as they offered in their most recent letter, I would almost be able to pay the loan off!

Well, perhaps the PPI is the best bit to do first.

    Liz

    Good luck Liz.;)

Yes I see what you mean. It would definately help wouldn't it?

Please keep us posted, cheers X

Wonder if the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) would help?
Contact the ICO explain that your still waiting for personal information in regards of a lot of money and they are not responding, sometimes they contact them on your behalf, it may be worth ringing them to ask, good luck.;)

HSBC did not buy HFC until 2003. The PPi in question was sold in 2000.

Also, a fine against HFC would not reflect on the rest of HSBC.

OK, I've had a couple of letters from HSBC, does anyone have any thought, please?

Letter 1 was the standard "we need more time" thing.

Letter 2 is "unfortunately due to the amount of time your accounts have been closed, HSBC no longer holds records of your specific account information relating the passing of your debt" and "is unable to confirm the outstanding balances of your accounts at the time of its closure".

I have myself a bank statement with all the amounts detailed! What should I do next? Plough on sending them a photocopy?

    Thanks.

What were the dates of the accounts in question? What date did you open them and close them?

Can't remember when I opened the account. It was closed in November 2000 and taken over by MCS.

    Hi Acey
    How are you?;)

Due to the age of this, normally they hold your information up to a max time of 6 years, saying that with one of mine I was supplied with information going back as far as 2001.

I have heard just as long as you have some information it may still be of some help.
You could if you want to let them know you have something, see what they say, maybe they can track from them if kept on microfiche systems, it may be worth a shot.

I think maybe Melorablack may know what to suggest on this one, hopefully she will be along soon, because she has dealt with cases from years ago as well.

I will let her know later if she misses this post.;)
