popped mine in the slow cooker this morning, seasoned it, comes out lovely and tender. I may pop in the over for last 40 mins, to crisp up a little, but this way i dont have to worry about it. Comes out lovely every time.

Just being nosey as might try this, do you cover with foil or put any water in etc ? How long do you usually cook it for and on what setting ?
One day I might be more organised...........

Well....Thanks everyone for your help. put it in the oven for almost 3 hours covered in foil with Garlic and dried R.mary and mixed Herbs.....then opened foil up for half an hour and then let sit out for 20 min....gorgeous.
There is loads left so may freeze it ( if you can freeze lamb ? ) for another day.

I tend to make "potted meat" for the week - stick lamb, breadcrumbs, onion and melted butter in food processor, add pepper and sometimes mint, or any other herbs, liquidise, keep adding butter until I get a spreadable consistancy.

I think my mum makes a paella with cold lamb but not sure of recipe

    Hi Harvey,

There's an older thread with lots of ideas for using up left over lamb that should help:

I put nothing with it in the slow cooker just seasoning of my choice, i used Rosemary a little garlic, salt pepper today, when ready, put for last 30-40 mins in oven no foil, so nice and crisp on top. used the juices from the meat from slow cooker to make the gravy, every one loved it!

i have bought a half leg of lamb (frozen) and wanted to use it tomorrow, but i have never cooked lamb in this way before (usually buy it diced or escolops which is just grill)

whats the best way to cook it? it has a bone can i make stock? how long can i keep it in fridge for?

ive just got it out of frezer so it should be defrosted by tomorrow, labeling is no help

im hopeing i have found a way we can enjoy more lamb by trying to make it stretch to at least 2 meals and a soup(if thats possible)

my menu planning is going a bit to pot this week and my mind has gone blank!
i got a leg of lamb out of the freezer the other day but was then given a lovely free range chicken on friday which needed to be eaten :D
i made a curry on friday night and a roast dinner toninght both from the chicken but the lamb is still waiting in the fridge.
i am drawing a blank what to do with it, i dont want to go buy a load more veg for another roast and have run out of potatoes and most of the weeks veg has gone. (enough left overs in the fridge for bubble & squeak on monday:D )

so this is what i have in the fridge, all i need is inspiration. (i also have a very well stocked store cupboard)

    1/2 leg of lamb
    1 aubergine
    sprouts
    onions
    garlic
    eggs
    cheese
    frozen peas
    carrots (already cooked though)
i also have all the usual pulses, pasta, spices, rices etc etc

help! i dont mind buying a couple of ingredients if i need to
