Back in 2001 when I joined Natwest, I got a student account with a full switch card not a solo card. I was only 17 at the time. It had a £100 cheque guarantee on it too.0

They were nuaghty then, you can't have credit facilities under the age of 18, nice one though.
I didn't have access to a student overdraft until I was 18, but on the day I turned 18 I got given £1250 straight away. I picked Natwest because they were the only bank willing to give me a full Switch card before I was 18.0 -
If the OP cant trust themselves with a credit card (even though theyre 17 atm and can't have one), maybe that;s a bigger underlying issue that needs combatting first?0

It's like dangling a beer in front of an alcoholic; "just one more won't hurt." Why should I give myself the option to potentially overspend what I don't have? I probably wouldn't do it, but I don't want to risk it, furthermore I don't like the idea of living off credit, I'd rather not contribute to our messed up economy0
