  • Hypno, you're doing great!

From your last post "of which £132.55 completely unavoidable." :rotfl: :D

Thanks for the humour so early in the day. I've my end of year exams (second year of part time degree) in three hours so the lightening of mood is very welcome :D

Have a lovely day and thank you again for sharing your experiences with us all.

    A better day, spendwise, yesterday.....

£2.45 for birthday cards for DD who is 15 today.
80p for coffee at the ski club.

So, total spends for Wednesday = £3.25
Total spends for June = £815.65

    Of which £133.35 completely avoidable.

Well, little spending went on yesterday, but most of it was completely unnecessary....

£2.99 on breakfast for DD (sausage sandwich - but it was her birthday!)
£5.00 bus fare for her to go to college
£3.32 - lunch - not organised enough to take sandwiches with me.
    £1.45 - fathers day card

    £6.31 therefore avoidable......:o

So total spend for Thursday - £12.76

Total for June so far - £828.41

Of which £139.66 could have been avoided.

Time to update for the last couple of days.

Yesterday I spent nothing :T OH bike insurance did come out, but that is an annual necessity, so I don't count it for the purposes of this diary.....but it was £113, so still a sizable chunk of money leaving my hands!

Today, I spent £1.60 on two cups of coffee at the ski club, plus £2 each for the children to get lunch, plus £2 for DS to go into the city and get a fathers day card for OH.

Also had to spend £3.41 on ebay postage.

So, total spend for today - £11.01 of which £1.60 was unnecessary.

    Total spend for June £839.42

Of which £141.26 could have been avoided.

But, I have to say that this spending diary is doing the required job - I have not been to the cash machine for the odd £10 here and there nearly so much this month. It is payday on Tuesday, and although this diary runs per calendar month, I am pleased to report that 48 hours or so before payday and I still have a little (only a little, mind) money in the bank.....

.....and that includes having paid for OH bike repairs, MOT and insurance this month, so this additional focus is really making a difference.

Hypno - this really makes one think. Not sure if I am brave enough but
    :T:TWELL DONE YOU :T:T
  • Hypno, I'm delighted this is working well for you as it's such a brave move to allow others to comment. I wouldn't be able to do this personally :o That's because I don't like other people telling me what to do, even when they are only 'suggestions' :p

Many, many congratulations on your continuing journey on debt-freeness whilst still having a life. As others have said you're an inspiration. Personally, I've been helped very much by your posts on MSE, so a sincere 'Thank You' :D

Yesterday was another ski day, so I spent:

    £9 race entry fee
    £30 petrol
£15 - food and drink etc when there, which I could have reduced by half I guess.

So a total of £54 spent on Sunday.

Which makes a total spent for June of £893.42.

Of which £148.76 could have been avoided with a bit of effort.
