This challenge used to run every week (thanks to Moozie and PAP) but I have not seen it in a while so I hope no one minds but I need this to keep me on track ...

Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

    Morning all,

I am declaring £19.63 for last week which makes me green.

I am going for £30 this week as I am going to the theatre on Thursday night (ticket already paid for but I may want a drink or ice-cream). I had a very spendy Saturday but I got some bargains including books from charity shops. I also went to the opera for the first time which was brilliant.

Anyway I am off climbing hills today and the weather here is so sunny. Enjoy your Sunday budgeteers.

    Hi all!

Can you put me down for £42 as that's what is in my purse. I'm going to do a big grocery shop later today, and after that the £42 will include any other groceries I buy this week.

I am red for last week
  • Just put me down for £20 this week please. I don't see myself spending more than that.

Hi PP. I lost count, I think I must be red for last week but probably not too far over budget.

Today I have already spent £12. This was £7 on a few groceries for a friend who was really stuck, £4 on beer for my dad as a thank you for helping in my garden and £1 on sweets for me (:o). Now I could pretend this was all groceries but in reality none of it is going to provide me with any meals this week so I best declare it here.

In view of this spend I'll go for £22 for the total week so I've a tenner left.

    Thanks and happy budgeteering all

Hi PP please could you put me down for £20 this week, taking OH out for lunch on Thursday so that'll cost a bomb no doubt.

    Good luck all.!!

Ooh I'd love to join in with this one! I just worked out our budget and we have £60 a week 'spare', but as I want to throw as much of this as possible at our loan, I'll aim for less than £30 this week. It should be much less I hope as I'll be revising for exams for 4 days so shouldn't have the opportunity to spend!

Well, so far spends have come out of grocery budget, so still on track for GREENNESS (i know it's only day 1)

Kezlou - wedding plans going ok, considering we only got engaged at xmas 08 we only really have cake and flowers to sort, which i'm impressed with. actually need to sort my hair out too. my hairdresser charges..... wait for it.... £800:eek: for her bridal package. (obviously i fell over when she quoted that) so have been having mini panics about who will do my hair.

    Have a good week all

    enjoy your lunch kez

    pp - tan? scotland?

I will join this challenge again... need to keep the spending to £30 or less till 17th June... then in South Africa £30 a week will also go a very long way! ;-)
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!
