I got this too. I rang up the normal helpline 08453003900 and she said that loads of letters have been sent out to single parents on low income to ccheck that our awards are right! I had a preston number of 01772234239! Couldn't get through on Friday at all so left my details! Any one else get this number?

  • Hi mumof2lovelychildren,

I had the same letter you quote below, yesterday when i got home from work. As it was after 6pm when i read it - it was to late to call them. Now I'm worried because I have this hanging over me all weekend! Could you please tell me the outcome of your letter. I have read a few peoples comments saying that they ask you questions about your circumstances, however i only returned my new end of year form in about June so this seems a bit strange to be checking again so soon! Also I am at work on Monday but would like to get this sorted out asap, do you think this is something i could do on my way to work or do they require exact figures etc?

Sorry to ramble so much but hate thing like this!

    Thankyou

I have received a letter entitled 'Keeping your Tax Credits Payments right is important'
Its says: We want to improve the service we give you and make sure you gte the right money you are due. To enable us to do this we need to make sure that we have the right information about your current circumstances because we work out your tax credits based on those details. If any of the details we hold for you are incorrect: you may not get all the money you are entitiled to or you may build up an overpayment that you have to pay back.
It then goes on to ask me to call. My letter seems slightly different to others you have discussed and I wondered if anyone has ha this letter before and what the outcome was?
    Thanks xx

hi i had one in may i called confirmed all my details and have not heard anything since think its just to check contact details are up to date and child care providers are still the same for example when people change providers if its the same amount they dont call to change it and they need to. try not to worry i had sleepless nights over it but mine was in may and it was a 5 min phone call and done.

Hi I've got the Leicester number - so presumably you get your local office. They have been engaged all day - I've got them on redial - no joy !! I have rung the normal number who said Dunno love can't help ! I'm going to write to them I think - can't even leave a massage
