Makes you wander dosen't it. As i said early on my old tv still has a good picture and has never broken down. It's just bulky and when i see the space i can save it's tempting.
How do you know the manufactures are 10 to 20 years ahead Strider 590?0 -

I read it in an electronics publication about 8 years ago.
For many years the industry has been holding back it technology, waiting for digital TV to really take hold. Now it's a complete free for all!
Also OLED technology for example was something I heard about nearly 10 years ago. Although lifespan was a big big problem back then, with OLEDs lasting no more than a year or so.
This has got me thinking now, I wonder where organic transistors have gone for memory and processor applications........ hmmm...“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Just because something has been invented doesn't mean manufacturers are holding it back.
I'm not doubting that they wait until opportune moments to release their products, but there's a big difference between developing a technology, and having a stable finished product that they can sell in large enough numbers to make a profit.0 -
You get what you pay for. Buy Sony, Samsung or Panasonic and you cant really go wrong
But they too go up in quality so you could have say two 37" screens by Sony. Ones 500 quid and ones 2k. Clearly the 2k one is going to be better quality.
I wouldnt touch a cheap Aldi tv with a bargepole:idea:0 -

I would, they come with a full 3 year warranty and this one is Full HD at less than £300.

Not at all, I could buy one for my bedroom, if it wasn't any good, I could just take it straight back to Aldi for a full " no quibble " refund, then 3 year warranty if I keep it, all for less than £300, I love Aldi's, their stuff is always excellent quality as is their service.
Where else can you buy a quality 32" LCD TV, that you can take back if you don't like it?
Who else gives a 3 year warranty on a £300 TV?
Not " spec and price " value for money.;)0 -
A fair comment. I might even have one for the bedroom myself. I was more going with the spirit of the thread. The op wants to buy a new tv for their living room and for that purpose I most certainly would NOT buy the aldi:idea:0

Fair enough Rik, I probably wouldn't either, but I may have, if I had a smaller living room, well at least I would take one home and try it, nothing to lose really.0 -

Sounds a good deal what aldi are offering so it must be quality kit to give you a 3 year warranty. But could i have a unknown make flat screen in my living room mmm i don't know i suppose it's a badge thing a bit like driving around in a Skoda nothing wrong with them but you know what i mean.0
