thats what i thought happened

Oh, well, whatever. However, they can still be done for false advertising. I am not a bit bothered about whether I reported it to anyone ... however, if people are effectively lied to on the phone and told one thing ... is the customer to know better? I already know what my rights are, and no one was questioning that nor asking about them. I wasn't questioning my rights nor asking about them. If I choose to assert them with a retailer then I shall. Like anyone else.
Oh, BTW did you miss these other comments:Whatever you do, do not let them off the hook - did you note times/dates of all your contacts with them, and hopefully a name of who you spoke to ?? Chase them every day until you get your result....
What you do on your break is your concern and none of mine BTW. I don't use MSE, either.
Actually, why am I even bothering to reply. Must be on my break or something. :rotfl:Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Let them off the hook sounds pretty much like 'holding them to it'.

i wasnt commenting on your choices to assert your rights, just on the fact that you wanted to report it which by the way wouldnt do anything as they can not be done for false advertising
it was a simple mistake that would have been corrected when noticed
it only becomes illegal when its repeated intentionally or repeated mistakenly in which case it comes under false advertising due to neglect.
as for all my other comments none where directed at you are where about you so i dont see why you need to sarcastically twist them
all i have done is correct people who dont know what the experience as i myself do.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

PCW's tech people are mostly school leavers and graduates, they've not got a clue what they're doing. Most have zero experience and are thrown into a job they can't do.
Many aren't even interested in IT, it was just something they did to get into uni.
One of the main goals of my business is to break the back of the current IT retail/repairs environment, getting your PC fixed should not be as hit and miss and finding a decent garage to fix your car without ripping you off. And this is EXACTLY what I compare the retailers and a large number of independent specialists to. It needs to stop!!
Its the same as bt home it, although I am fully qualified engineer both laptop and server not once did they check my qualifications0 -
OK - They are close tomorrow, I have to phone them on Monday. unlikely I think but what happens if they say the laptop has been fixed today (monday) and sent back to me. As the cut of date is Sunday, should I still be entitled for vouchers?

Yes. It's the number of days, not working days.

MS
as donnie said its total number of days
but tbh you need to decide if you want to wait up to a month or more for a new laptop (mine was a month and a half not including delivery complications - out of interest how much was the laptop and does it have bluetooth etc?)
or do you want to wait a week at most to get your laptop back?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

and as im looking for a job and im very IT minded i shall apply for all
i hope i get maplins
god forbid if i get pc world but i shall have to accept
i will be the consumers shining light there!
haha secretly telling them to download avira malwarebytes and superantispyware instead of getting norton
and the un heard of... being helpful and nice!
wonder how long it takes to be fired?
You should hope you get Maplins! The problem with PC World is that if you do actually know something about computers, you'll be relegated to dealing with customers problems above selling. Then questions will be asked about your sales performance. Then you'll be fired, even though you've worked twice as hard as the rest of the store. Although I don't think advising Avira (through the PC world site, where i think theres a link for a free download) will get you into any trouble.
Maplin you'll find that technical knowledge will mean you don't go near a till or return and will spend 99% of your time with a queue of people telling you what to sell them. You will, however, feel like you are being stalked around the store by half the customers!0 -

Maplins would be my first choice too! At least the staff are often interested in what they sell0 -

I bought it around £700 5 yrs ago. At that time laptops was quite expensive and I just had a basic one. It's only Intel Celeren, 40gb, 768 MB Ram. Only I use internet and basic word applications so I did not need a laptop with high spec. I dont think they will pay me alot for this laptop now?
