What a beautiful dog. I wish I could have it. Don't think my boy would be too happy though.I know of a 12 month old labradoodle in Rochdale area. Still living with his family, used to cats (he lives with 5 of them) and good with children and gets on with other dogs. Has been neutered and up to date on innoculations. Said to have a lovely personality.
I will pm you with more info.

He is safe, still at home with his owner. Im sure we wont have much trouble finding a new home for this boy

Contacted the second local rescue place this morning. They said they don't allow people to visit the dogs they have there. There procedure is to send someone to asses what type of dog you need, and asses your house. Then they match a dog to you, you don't actually get to see the dog before they bring it out to the house to see if you want it. They also said if more than once dog match the criteria, they bring more than one dog.
That seems a bit odd to me, surely it would be easier f they let people view the dogs there rather than dragging dogs all over the place with every possibility that once they arrive, the person will decide against it
I'm probably being picky, I just assumed I'd get a little say in what dog I'd like, rather than have someone else assume on my behalf.Sigless0 -
Rev - before we got our Cocker, one of the breeders we spoke to did the same, she refused to let us see the litter although we could have met 'mum'.
We also rescued a cat many years ago where the same thing happened, the poor little thing was beset with health problems which I'm sure the lady knew of. We never got to see how she was being kept etc. and found it very hard to say no. I'm sure the centre you're dealing with are reputable but don't agree to anything you don't feel 100% comfortable with.
Looking back, we should have done but I'd find it so hard to turn an animal away.0 -
I dont know of any rescues with that sort of policy - some dont like having people walking around the kennels all day as it stresses the dogs, so will narrow it down to two or three dogs then bring them out of the kennels to meet you at the rescue centre.
I would join dogpages and get a 'home offered' ad on, and look at dogsblog...0 -
I also recommend dog pages, post in the homes offered page, exactly as you have here and you will loads of help, they often transport the dogs to you as well in your circumstances.Always on the hunt for a bargain0

Check out Many Tears rescue aswell. Though they are based in Wales lots of the dogs are fostered all over the country.0

Was that freshfields? If so they had a fire just before christmas which destroyed at least part of the site which would explain why. You could also try wirral animal welfare - http://wirralanimalwelfare.blogspot.com/0 -
Yeah, it was Freshfield. I understand a little more after hearing they had a fire, so obviously they'll not want people walking around. Still, I'm not prepared to have zero say in the dog they chose for me, I know that if they brought a dog I'd feel pressured and probably end up saying yes to any dog they brought, simply because I'd feel bad saying no, since it would mean the dog returning to kennels.
I've signed up on dogspages and have bookmarked dogsblog.
Just like to say thanks once again for all the advice.Sigless0
