I have been using the multiple current account system for a while, and i have to say my finances are starting to look much healthier due to this!

I find it easier to allocate appropriate amounts on a month by month basis.

    Halifax Reward - Bills Account
Halifax Reward (2) - Spending Account
Halifax Reward (3) - Master Degree Funding, Fees and Costs
RBS Graduate Account - Reducing my OD and then will close this one
RBS (so called) interest paying CA- for petrol costs (due to getting work mileage paid) this I keep seperate to monitor the cost.

Seems a lot, but it take 20mins on payday to move around, and I'm sorted for the whole month!

I don't have as many as I tend to do spending on cashback card these days.

In the main I have 3. One RBS is an older account, use for some DD's, I have 2 at Abbey, one small spend, one for larger amounts and salary and my car insurance.

I think it is quite sensible if you are disciplined to have a few, and I tend to keep them organised through internet/standing orders so it is all good!

It definitely helps me budget having 2 different accounts, you just have to watch out for things like energy suppliers changing your DD and sky/bt price changes, etc.

I used to have one account and my savings, with all the direct debits going out of my account (OH and sister who I share house with would give me money every month for bills). But, it is just too confusing, so recently I did exactly the same thing and set up another account with Halifax, just for bills. Then my budgeting spreadsheet is a lot cleaner and I don't get confused when an odd bill comes out if they have paid me for it!

I now have two regular savers, two current accounts, three ISAs and two savings accounts. My how times have changed, but it leaves my life simpler! It also means that we have a nice buffer we are building up on the bills account (as we now put in more), that hopefully, one day we can use for something special!

    I have three.

    HSBC Plus - Main Account
Lloyds TSB Classic - Run £100 in and then out each month to keep it active, otherwise it's not used
Barclays Bank Account - Run £100 in and then out each month to keep it active otherwise it's not used

Never know when you might need another bank account. :)
