Yeh but its always useful that if you don't have money on one you can still use the other lol.

Exactly the same with me. I started using Lloyds to transfer money over to my friend, set it up yday, money not leaving till Sunday

Yeah that's why I will never shut my HSBC down, they always seem to the first to take up things like faster payments and the service is generally very good so that's my main a/c

My wages are paid into my Halifax Reward account (so I get the £5/month reward from them) and all DD/SO's come out of this account. I then transfer my spending money to my HSBC account, and my savings to my savings account.

I've been doing this for about a year and find it's really useful as I don't need to worry about whether I have enough in the account to pay bills etc.

I also find it useful since I changed jobs I'm now paid on the 21st, as opposed to the 1st of a month. All my DD's etc go out on 1st or just after so this would be confusing if I didn't have the 2 accounts.

I have been using the multiple current account system for a while, and i have to say my finances are starting to look much healthier due to this!

I find it easier to allocate appropriate amounts on a month by month basis.

    Halifax Reward - Bills Account
Halifax Reward (2) - Spending Account
Halifax Reward (3) - Master Degree Funding, Fees and Costs
RBS Graduate Account - Reducing my OD and then will close this one
RBS (so called) interest paying CA- for petrol costs (due to getting work mileage paid) this I keep seperate to monitor the cost.

Seems a lot, but it take 20mins on payday to move around, and I'm sorted for the whole month!
    Credit Card 6.9% - £0/£2800
Graduate OD 19.9% - [STRIKE]£1000[/STRIKE] Paid off Sept 11

i have accounts with smile, and although they dont pay the best ( at all!) the interface online is fantastic.

I have a current acc for my daily spending
Another current account OH & I pay into pays into for bills
I have a savings acc for Xmas
    One for holidays
One for the money Ive saved since giving up smoking ( once it hits 1k will move it)
and another current account that I use for my work expenses, the 500 overdraft is used on this.

I love having them all in the same place, and can have orders going between all of them and outside, it all works like clockwork for me! Finally!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

don't all banks allow you to set up standing orders for whenever you want??

Some do, but not all. You can only set them up for whatever their computer systems will allow. Nationwide will only do calendar monthly, quarterly or annual standing orders. First Direct will do them for whatever frequency you like. I used to pay my rent on a weekly standing order from my FD account, going out every Monday.

My OH and I have a joint account where all money goes in and bills go out, then we transfer a set amount to each of our individual accounts each month. It doesn't always work that well because my OH seems incapable of not spending more than he's got but we're getting there! That's the thing with having credit for so long, it's quite hard to understand that you don't have an "endless" supply of money anymore!

You'll get £100 for joining FD, but you have to let them transfer your DD's for you. They did mine smoothly enough and got my £100 within 6 wks of account opening.
If you will the end, you must will the means.

You can transfer DD's without closing the A&L account.

I've just moved all my DD's using Halifax's Switching Service to my Reward Current Ac!!!!. There was never any issue with me keeping the A&L account open.
