It may, of course, actually be full time (despite what the OP said) but it doesn't really matter if she's getting IS - you don't get both!0 -
Anything over twelve hours is classed as full time...it was a nice suprise for me to discover that as I got all my eldest sons CB backdated!0

It depends on whether you're talking about contact time or guided learning; courses are designated either full or part time and the hours can be very different. I took the OP's word that this was a part time course but it seems now to be irrelevant to her grand daughter's situation..0 -

There is very little grace in this world is there?
I agree that it is harsh.
If your grandaughter really does care for you for the long hours required to be eligible for Ca she deserves every penny of it and deserves an occasional break to do something else with her life.
Even caring for someone you love with all your heart will feel like drudgery if it is day in day out without any respite.
It is unjust that workers every other job would expect to have paid holidays why not carers?
Many people choose to do casual work during paid holidays from their regular work and would not expect to forfeit their entitlement to holiday pay.
this interests me as when I worked for a time in Adult social care, there was a areal drive towards carers, to have outside interests, and job prospects. lots of pomp about supporting carers, and I feel its a shame she has been called for fraud when I think it could have been dealt with less harsly. This girl now, is more likely to be in need of benefits longer term, its not easy to get a job in this market with a perfect record, let alone a fraud.
There is an allowance for the carer to go on holiday, if the person being cared for cant find a replacement then the local authority can source one for this period. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
