the problem is that cautions are never spent, unlike criminal convictions. A great injustice.

Thank you for your constructive reply.
She does a part time 12 hours a week college course and recieves £30 per week ALG payment.
    Thanks
    pam

I think I'm about to get shouted at for being harsh again!

    1. If the course she's on is part time, she shouldn't be getting ALG. (I pointed this out 5 months ago!)

    2. If she's on IS as you posted earlier then she shouldn't be getting ALG either!

There seems to be a fair bit of fiddling going on here, I'm afraid!

    \thank you for your understanding

my granddaughter is one in a million. She cares for me without complaint and always with a smile. The small allowance she gets for it should be doubled if not more. I take it from the adverse comments I have had that these people don't know what caring for someone entails.

I'm sure your Grand-daughter is a lovely girl and I totally agree that Carers should have a lot more money, in fact I recently signed a petition about this very thing.

However, I'm afraid that it doesn't alter the fact that during that four weeks she was not entitled to the allowance and that is why she has been cautioned.

We may not like the rules, but those are the rules and she has broken them.

Anyway, I hope all is fine now.

ONW aslong as she is doing 12 hours a week she should get ALG, though as you say it would affect her IS entitlement.

Could it be that because even a full time course sometimes does not seem that way to outsiders in terms of hours(i.e 15 hours is full time) then gran thinks it is part time when actually it is classed as full time?

    Agree about the IS though.

I appreciate that the hours are possible but the OP definitely said that it's a part time course and you only get ALG for full time courses.

ALG doesn't affect your entitlement to IS, it's the other way round; if you're on IS, you can't get ALG. I think that notifying ALG/the college that she's now on IS is something else that's slipped the grand daughter's mind!

Could it be EMA? although it is unlikely she has the name wrong as ALG is the lesser known payment.

    Hopefully the op will clarify!
