As you seem quite stupid I'll put it down to ignorance rather than racism then. ;)

I bank with HSBC and find them very good.

I'm a plus customer which gets me straight through to the UK Plus Call Centre.

There has been a few times when I have rung the Savings Application line and have got through to the Phillphines....they speak very good english and have no trouble understanding you. I did think I was through to America at first because they sound American.

what people dont rtealise is that some call centres like the one i worked in, you arent allowed to deviate from the script even the operators complained because you had rediculous things like this -

    customer "my husband said......"

    operator "are you married?"

    Like:

    Operator: Please restart your computer
    Me: Why
Operator: Because we have to check these things
Me: Okayyy ... (switches off, racks up large phone bill knowing it won't do anything to put the problem right because you know it's a problem with the modem supplied but we'll play along for now and not argue or get cut off for doing so)
Operator: *five minutes have passed, phone bill getting larger* Are you switched back on yet?
Me: Yes, but the problem is still there

    :D

PS Did I mention I am not 'English' ;)
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Although talking to foreign call centres is annoying, I always remember that the person I am talking to their is simply, like me, doing a job to support their family, and quite often for poor pay and in conditions that would not be allowed in this country. I therefore avoid any temptation to loose my rag or be otherwise unpleasant to them simply because their language skills are not perfect.

I suggest that if someone does not want to conduct business with a foreign call centre, then change to a company that uses UK call centres, or at the very least complain to the company that has chosen to shed British jobs by exporting call centres abroad to save money for their shareholders.

Is there a charge for the "plus" account?

    Ah, I have just checked.

£12.95 reduced to £9.95 for the first 12 months.

If I was paying someone over £100 a year to look after my money I would expect to speak to someone in my own branch let alone my own country.
