Hi, just set up my new Humax Foxsat-HD digi box and it seems to be ok.

just a little help required.

Setting up resolution, which is the best one to choose from the options.
576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i or original.

Also.

When i press the WIDE disply button, my picture format does not change when i select the options available????

also, how do i select to watch ITV in High Def, or is it only selected programmes are in HD.

any other little tweaks that I should know about.

Thanks

Resolution-what TV are you linking it up to? HD Ready or Full HD? The res on those is 720 and 1080 respectively.
Only a few ITV programmes are broadcast in HD, it's not a full HD channel. I think you access the HD option when available via the red button.
If the interface is the same as the PVR 9300T (the Freeview version) then it's a great piece of kit.

To answer the question in your last sentence you may be interested in a forum dedicated to your receiver

  • 720p or 1080i are both acceptable. I doubt you'll see much difference, unless you watch a lot of fast moving sports.

There's no full HD (1080p) broadcasts, so you don't need to worry about that.

Mine is set to original, that way whatever format it was broadcast in is used. there little point upscaling the image, you don't get better resolution.

The only time it is worth it is if your TV has a better picture in one of the modes to another, and only trying this can you find out if there is any, or if your TV can't support a high def mode, but then the TV would downscale it itself anyway

You press the Red Button to watch the very few ITV programmes that are broadcast in HD.

You can scan channels in Non - Freesat Mode, from within the menu.

Mainly shopping and "lads from pub tv" type channels late at night. That means topless girls opffering to talk to you at expensive rates per minute.

There is Luxe TV in HD too, but it's not really something you'd watch.

If you can in non freesat mode you can always put it back into freesat mode easily and ignore the other channels..

Not a lot of anything worth watching, but it is " a tweak " that you asked about.

As suggested, don't forget to put your receiver back in to Freesat mode when you have finished playing with it..

    Enjoy.. ;)
