I agree- I don't post much but lurk a lot and have been ignoring many of Merlins more matryrish and sanctimonious posts for ages now but unfortunately pointlessly responded tonight having been very annoyed last night (and then again tonight) about the attitude presented.
Have made an executive decision now to accept the good in Merlins posts and ignore the less productive elements so will post no more.

    Hi restofmylife,

I admit to having a nosy on the dfw board early and caught sight of another post by merlin re testing people or something, tbh I didnt read all of it but did get the gist of it. I feel the same way and will not be posting any further to the provocative posts by merlin as actually upon reflection it seems attention is what is required and quite honestly it is not in the best interest of this forum. I hope that this subject can be now put to bed so to speak.
Yes I read that post jenni.

Oh I have just come from the DFW board and I gave sympathy to his first rant yesterday. It was only as I didn't understand his 2nd post about testing people, I was curious to what it referred to.................................seems my sympathy was wasted.

    Me again!

Please get help Merlin. You're destroying yourself.

It's a beautiful day today - I've woken up early full of the joys of spring. I'm going to go out today, possibly to the coast, get some sun on my face, walk along the beach, breathe in the sea air and be grateful for what I have.

Can you go out today - for a walk, take a picnic, sit on a seat in the park in the sun somewhere with a good book and enjoy the day and watch the world go by.

You'll probably feel better if you go out in the sun and take your mind off things and take your self away from the things that make you feel bad. I get depressed on my own at home from time to time which is why I'm going out today. I know I'll feel a whole lot better when get home later.

My oh asked for help, he was really at a low point.
He got reply from Merlin and oh thanked him BEFORE he read what the reply was.
I’m glad to say he also had good advice from gettingoutofdebt and JCS1.
My husband was very upset after his first posting and will not come on this site now, I still read postings but have not wanted to post before.

When people ask for help if you don’t want to help then you should not post a reply.
Please don’t reply and then tell the person you cant be bothered to help them, like Merlin did to my oh.

I have read a lot of Merlin’s postings and he can extreme to say the least, he will post wo is me on one board and how great is me on another. He is in a low place and clearly needs help.

There are some great people on here and I take a lot of the advice that they give others.
I can say without this site the path we are on would even harder than it is now.

I do not wish this posting to upset or offend but felt annoyed with Merlin and how he treats other posters at times.

Hi Chucky's Nanny :hello: Please, tell your OH that if he needs us, we're here. You can choose to put people on ignore which means you won't see what they are posting and therefore not be upset. Your OH doesn't need to forego the extra advice and support he may need because a poster upset him - just click on their name, go to their profile and choose ignore.

He said some harsh words to me when I first joined the forum, and at the time I was feeling very low. I wasnt fully used to forum etiquette back then, and getting a grilling for not saying thank you to a post made matters worse and tbh, he made me feel I wanted to leave the forum.
However some lovely, great posters on this site, who have helped me tremendously, so it that respect I am glad I ignored the comments and continued posting!

Anyhow, hope you a feeling a little better today Merlin if you are lurking.:p

you are all such lovely people
My oh has read this post and is feeling a lot better about seeking advice from you all
We are in early stages yet and will be asking for advice when we are unsure, scared and likely lost in the depth of it all at times.
    thanks to you all

I for one couldn't believe how much support all his rants got. I couldn't believe people were saying how helpful he'd been etc when all I could see was the destruction he was causing to posters and changing the whole atmosphere of the forum. A few of the very helpful regulars stopped posting because of it.
