Help! How do I get coffee stain out of carpet?!

Can anyone help? Ive knocked over a cup of coffee onto my cream carpet and don't know what to do!! To make matters worse this is a rented flat so MUST get it out! Have tried Vanish mousse but it hasn't done the job.
Any ideas will be very gratefully received.

Can anyone help me out, please?

:eek: I tipped half a mug of coffee on a carpet. I've searched this site as I won't have been the first person to do this but can't find a post suggesting ways to remove the stain. I'd really appreciate help with suggestions for cleaning or a pointer to previous posts with suggestions. I've tried 1001 and it's lifted the stain a bit but not completely.

For the technically minded the carpet is pale jade 100% wool and the coffee was half a mug of nescafe with two sweeteners and milk

Is it still wet,or has it soaked in? Speed is the essence with stains.If its still wet completely flood the area with water and gently mop up with kitchen towels or something else really absorbant-that should lift the coffee out.

Not sure what to do if it's soaked in -sorry.

Spray soda water onto it, then mop up with kitchen roll, repeat until stain has gone!!

thanks it had dried quite a bit - I spilt the coffee dashing out of the house on way to hosp to see my mum. I'll try the soda water, thanks - good excuse to pop to the offy :j

I have dabbed it, used white vinegatr and baking powder but it still remains.

Hi, I usually work down the this list, but do check it that they are okay for your carpet first as you don't want to make the mark bigger!:

biological washing powder (dissolve a bit in water, dab onto stain, clean off thoroughly with water) - also great for cleaning tea stains off of cups or strainers (leave to soak overnight)

glycerine (50 % water, 50 % glycerine), then washing powder as above.
