Might be worth while checking if you are covered with your home insurance.
My little nephew was sick recently over my sister's living room carpet which left a nasty stain and she tried an assortment of things to clean it and then called a specialist carpet cleaning company who told her that there was probably no point them coming out due to what she had already tried but they suggested the insurance route.
My sister thought they were mad but gave them a call anyway and they confirmed she was covered and tomorrow she is getting a brand new carpet fitted :j :j :j0 -
I tried numerous remedies and on the third day the one that finally worked was a 6% hydrogen peroxide solution, I tested it on a patch of carpet first to make sure that it didn't bleach the carpet and I was amazed as it cleared the stain in about 15 minutes, I then wiped the area with a damp cloth.
I hope that this helps someone.:hello:0 -
I find that sometimes you have to give the 1001 a couple of goes before it gets a stain out completely. It's the best thing I've found though on the high street.
I too live in a rented flat and am paranoid about staining the carpets - I swear that stains appear overnight!0 -
Rented carpets a nightmare!! I wouldn't worry too much, we have been renting for a few years and have 2 very muddy stepchildren, a dog who attracts mud and allsorts to his underside and then lies on carpet, have spilt allsorts on even cream carpets but never had a problem, hired a rug doctor or similar from dry cleaners for about £15 for the day and they lift everything!!
Last time we moved, it even lifted stains in corner that were there when we moved in0 -
Hi everyone
I'm hoping someone can help me please. DH spilled a whole big mug of coffee on my new(ish) carpet . He says he cleaned it up when it happened but I suspect he kind of "rubbed it in". Afterwards I sprayed some carpet shampoo on it and scrubbed it then vacumed later on, and repeated this the following day. Unfortunately, there is a great big stain. My carpet is a brownish colour but completely different from the stain colour and it really stands out. Any help on what I can do to get the stain out would be greatly appreciated, where it is, I cannot even cover up with a rug or furniture and I am reluctant to have to pay £50 or whatever it costs to get the professional cleaners in.
Many thanks.

Im no expert on stains but I usually find that the carpet sprays and cleaners in pet shops are quite effective. Theres one that is a powder that you sprinkle on the [strike]urine[/strike] coffee and as it hits the wet patch it bubbles up and you can just lift the resulting foam away. (Pet Health Care Rapid Response emergency Clean Up.) It even says on the carton that it deals with food and liquid spills, including blood and diarrhoea.
However, that is no good for you if the stain has dried. Any other thing you try just remember to test it on carpet that can't be seen first!0 -
