To say one thing and do another is not good practice, no matter how sincerely the promise is made.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

Chortle wrote:If that indeed is the way it is being run, I think I'd have issues with PB for the way they're advertising their comps. There is nothing in the comp rules (as far as I can see) that indicates that entry is determined by how long you've been a member, or that they recycle the questions.A penny saved is a penny gained0

Marigold123 wrote:I don't think the competions do work like that. The clickthroughs sometimes come round again, and if you've had them once you don't usually get the same ad to click again, but the comp questions are the same for everybody. The comps are subject to the occasional screw up, but I don't think it's deliberate.
Say a deal was worked out that Toucan pay a certain amount for visits to their site, but also based on the amount of money people actually spend with them, then it makes sense to keep bringing up the older questions for people who have just joined or have been members for a month or 2 until they're in profit (without having to pay anything out to the older members). When you think about it, each new question must cost them at least a few hundred quid each week, they need to make enough from the older questions before paying out on new ones if that makes sense.
Of course, it could just be a !!!!-up, or a revision of contract, what I just said is probably no-where near the truth as they could just lower it to 10 points per answer, same visits, half the price.
I don't pretend I know how it works, i'd like to, but I wouldn't want to run it - must be a headache at the best of times - but one thing I do know, I appreciate it! There's been to much slagging of pigsback lately me thinks.
They seem to be sorting a lot of problems that are their and their clients fault, but there'll always be customer and technical error that is just completely impossible to sort out, that's just unfortunate for the people that lose out and unfortunate for pigsback when those people leave.
btw - I notice a couple of people lately who have made Dell purchases that haven't received their points and pigsback say they haven't got any record.
I read up a little about Dell on other cashback sites and they say that if you click out of certain sections on Dell, for instance, click onto Dells peripherals, software or business section links then the referall link is lost, you'd have to come back into Pigsback and start again - I think this is where people are getting confused, y'no, let's go and look at the laptops, then go back to the desktops - referall gone.
Sorry to go on, can't sleep heh0 -

Rpoints never used to give me any points for my purchases, no matter how carefully I made them. I've managed to get all the points I've actually shopped for on Pigsback so far.

Marigold123 wrote:Zounds, where exactly did you read about the problems with Dell? If you could let me have a link, I'll pass it on to Pigsback, in case they're not actually aware that this happens.
Thanks.
There were 3 or 4 similar paragraphs I found on different sites, but unfortunately I didn't save any, this is an American one I just found for residentialemail after a little search tho', it may not apply to the UK site, but obviously if people are losing their afilliate links it might be worth Pigsback checking out with Dell UK. If there is anything similar it should go in the FAQ somewhere.

'Please be aware that Dell is unable to track orders that are made by linking between business units. If you click on Dell Home, Dell Home Software and Peripherals or Dell Small Business, the purchase needs to be made within that business unit. If you find that you have navigated away from the intended site or you wish to access other areas of the Dell Site, return to the Residential Email™ home page and choose the appropriate link for the purchase. Purchases of computer systems are not permitted through the Dell Home Software and Peripherals link. Purchases made in the Dell Outlet site are not commissionable, and Cash Back will not be paid.'0 -
I must admit that after being a member for about 4 months+ and earning only through joining up stuff and clickthroughs, I needed to purchase some GDH straighteners.
The best price was at HQ Hair (10% back in points on PB with HQ Hair) I found a code on the Discount board to have some money off, and decided to go through Quidco at 7%, only because of the hassle everyone seems to have retreiving the PB points on purchases.
My £5.65 comission on the purchase showed up in Quidco the next day, just waiting for it to be cleared now. Much less hassle than £7+ on PB points which may never appear????:j0
