Ok thanks, im going to do that. Did you get a book of stamps for each one, even if you sent lots together, or just for the set?
Also, i have an item that i had to refund a month or so ago and have found the receipt and it hasnt been tracked. Is it even worth putting in a claim as they wont be able to find out the address im claiming for will they?
Many thanks for your help x0 -

For the lost item you need to do a full claim and you have 6 months to do a claim for loss via the Royal mail. Your recorded delivery receipt from the PO will have the buyers address, so you just need to complete the claim form, send in the recorded slip and ebay details of sale (keep copies of everything as the RM often lose them!) and claim it all back, not just the 75p.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ok, many thanks for that, i think i still have the address on my ebay so will do that tomorrow..
I also saw somewhere on this thread about putting in a tracking number inti paypal, does anyone know how i would do that and if it is just for recorded?

i think you get 12 months to claim for uk items and 6 months for international.
eta - yep just checked the current claim forms on the royal mail site.
uk - 12 months to claim for loss or damage, delay claims must be made within 3 months of sending or 1 month of receipt
international - 6 months from date of posting0 -
i won't be better off financially if i send everything by recorded. i am currently sending about 200 items a month so it will cost me an extra £150 a month to send them all recorded.
Just make the buyers pay for it, there's no need for you to sponsor it."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

When people buy they often have a figure in mind, so maybe they will pay say £15 for a widget. Ebay best match shows them total costs with p and p so they can buy from seller A who has a widget for £13 plus £2.00 postage or seller B who has the widget for £13 plus £2.75 postage. The majority of buyers will go for the cheapest, they are protected either way as recorded only protects the seller.
For seller B to compete with seller A they would need to reduce their item cost to £12.25 to give the same end cost, so therefore sellers pay the recorded charge by losing some money from item cost.
Obviously as a seller I should be encouraging all my competitors to use recorded, it means i am higher in best match searches as I am cheaper it also means I can consistently out sell them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As I buyer even if seller B reduced their item cost to £12.25 I would still buy from Seller A. The item is likely to be delivered when I am at work and as I'm not there to sign the postman will most likely take it back to the depot rather than deliver it.
This is obviously particularly the case for items that will fit through the letterbox. I don't want the hassle of having to go to the depot to collect it. The whole point for me of buying online is the item comes to my house rather than me have to go to a shop or Royal Mail depot to get it.0 -
I rarely sell, but do buy quite a bit, had no issues up till 3 weeks ago. One parcel went missing, the buyer refunded via paypal, then last week another one. I have a suspicion that it could have been delivered and left on my step, neighbours have seen parcels left there before and have taken them in for me.
The usual postman doesnt do this, but the temp one has done. I spoke to him, but apparently he is still doing it elsewhere in our road.
We have had a spate of doorstep sellers, and people offering services, so an unattended parcel is an invitation.
Who is responsible in this case? seller has POP she says, but item was £95, and as you can imagine I am none too happy about the fact that it has not arrived0 -
poet123 the seller remains responsible and you need to email them and just say that your item has not arrived. Personally I would not mention anything about items being left on your step or anything as that is immaterial and may give the seller hope that they can bully you into accepting part of the loss.
The seller should have sent this item special as a POP only covers up to £39 of loss but again that is not your concern. However special is a fairly reliable service and rarely has any problems so the seller has been a little foolish here if they didn't use it.
If seller does not offer a refund in a sensible time frame then take it to a full paypal chargeback and keep that claim open until you get either the item or the refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
