This thread has really inspired me and ive made a nappy cake as a gift for a friend and going to try and make a few to sell but have a few questions if anyone can help me ?

Do most of you use a cake board as a base ?
What sort off prices do you all charge when selling and what profit do you aim to make on each cake ?
Where do people get there soft toys from ? As im strugglling to find any at a reasonable price.
And lastly anyone know of a cheap place to buy the polythene clear wrapping ?

    Hi yuummymummy222
I always use cake boards but usually the thin (cut edge) ones unless the cake is really heavy, then I will use a thicker (turned edge) board.

For pricing, depends if you want to factor in the hours etc it has taken you to make it etc, or just the cost of the contents, wrapping etc with profit on top.
As long as you and your customer are happy with the price agreed that's all that matters - there are no hard and fast rules.
I tend to charge the same price for all 3 Tiers for example (same for 2's and 1's)
so make the cake according to my price. Some people charge dfferent prices for every cake.

You have to look out for toyswherever you are and especially for sales and deals. For example Boots 3 for 2's.
Supermarkets, Stores and Card shops are good places as well as online. just make sure the toys are "from birth".

It's Cellophane you need to wrap the cakes and it's best if you buy 80cm wide for 3 Tiers. I buy mine in large rolls online but i think you can get small rolls on ebay etc, or ask if your local Florist will sell you some.
Hope this has helped! Happy making :)

Hi yes i always use cake boards on mine as well.
As Moonpenny as said depends on whats in it and how long its took to make.
My soft toys i get wholesale if selling your cakes they must be ones that are safe from birth :)

and again i get my wrap from wholesale but places like Hobbycraft sell it.
