i just tried to make up a train but i'm not that happy with it. worked on the same principle as the pram thing but with a funnel, an extra wheel, and instead of the hood a mini stack of nappies folded in half. i threw on some ribbons that i took off the pram so i think maybe if i used boys colours it might look better - i reckon i may have another go then give up lol, i will need to try and cover the nappies with something but i was getting so frustrated with it i hoped it would look better. I think it's the cabin bit thats puttin me off..... any ideas on how to sort this?0

I have made two three tier cakes abd decided to wrap them in voile rather than cello wrap, I cut four pieces of voile before I got it right, ( good job I had a roll of voile )
can anyone give me any hints on how to cut the correct size voile as I can see it being an expensive mistake if I carry on like this !!
also any hints on wrapping appreciated
cheers

Hi vikki_ louise, My favourite cake and one I have sold most of is my cream Lion.
I have now run out of Lions and am gutted! They were from Asda last yr.
Jerseygirl55, Can't you cut the voil exactly the same size as the cello you would use?0 -
Moonpenny I love that Lion cake!
Thanks for the compliments about my stuff!
My shoe cakes (mini cakes) do quite well as I think they are quite small and more affordable for a lot of people who just want to give a gift to a friend or a friends daughter. My best sellers are my Classic 3 tiers and baby bouquets. My mini cakes do well at the fairs as they are affordable on the spot purchases.
The website is doing well but hard work when I have both my two little ones at home. I am still exam marking and tutoring although that has gone quiet for the summer hols. Some days the boys are in nursery. Some from Google searches, some from the fairs I have done and some from friends and family. I am now finding that I am getting orders from people that have seen my cakes delivered and have asked for my details from recipients. So I guess that is free advertising. I have noticed that about 50% of orders are from companies and schools for maternity leaves. One school has now ordered 3 cakes in the last 6 months...I hope that continues! So all in all well. All very exciting...but hard work...I'm not complaining though!
BIG BIG thanks to everybody on here that has helped me!

Wow! Bellag, You must be shattered! - But Happy!
My DiL sells most of my cakes at her offices. I only seem to sell 3 Tiers and I did a couple of Luxery ones I sold last wk. Everyone wants cream Unisex cakes which I am having real problems with as there isn't much cream about (clothes wise) Even socks and bibs! and when I do find stuff, it is more for boys.
Not many toys about at moment either. I find myself paying more for stuff than when I started. Better quality, granted, but "the slippery slope2 to no profit!0 -

Exactly! I am the same- seem to sell all unisex 3 tiers for maternity leaves I guess when they dont know the sex of the baby yet. I have loads of pink and blue clothes and teddies but I just cant find any decent unisex teddies that are cute enough and of the right size!
