  • I have been using Huggies size 3s as they were half price in Tescos the other week. I have looked at every mm of the packaging and can't find the ingredients on them either.

    I have never listed Nappy Ingredients but went looking for them on loads of websites.

    Only thing I could find was this;

    "Disposable diapers are made using a large variety of in chemicals and the manufacturers are not required to disclose these chemical ingredients. Consumers should be aware of what chemicals are present in disposable diapers. Ingredients include polyethylene film, polypropylene plastic, bleached paper pulp, petrolatum, stearyl alcohol, hot melts (glue), elastic, cellulose tissue, and perfume. There are also super absorbent polymers (SAP), sometimes called absorbent gelling material, that keep the diaper from leaking."

    This is obviously just about the chemicals used in manufacturing disposable nappies but I could not find a list of ingredients anywhere.

    If the manufacturers aren't obliged to list ingredients on the packets then how can we be expected to especially when it is so secretive what the ingredients are. in the first place.

    I am confused as what to pu on the ingredients tag for the nappies, is it only whats in the balm that we should be putting on?
    Looking forward to new ventures :beer:
  • I found the ingredients for New Baby Pampers no problem the other day and just cut them off the packet and added them in with various other labels.

    I'm sure I'm not the only one now studying closely the labels of baby soft toys. Do I assume that the ones that say 'please remove all tags before giving to a child under 3' safe or not? It's a complete minefield! No where does is say what the suitable age is and they don't have button eyes/nose etc. Maybe I'm just best to stick with the ones clearly marked 'suitable from birth'

    I know what you mean. I had some bears that said Not suitable for children under 3 written on the tag, then on the washing label it said, please remove all tags before giving to babies and children under the age of 3. So does that mean that they are ok to give to children under 3 providing that you remove the tag (which to me is just obvious anyway!)

    I have managed to get a load of Keel suitable from birth toys at a really good price recently so have stocked up on them, and just been to Asda, they have got some soft toy animals (Monkeys, tigers, pigs etc), all suitable from birth for £1 each. They are not as cute as the keel bears, but for £1 they are ideal for my cheaper mini nappy cakes and I can relax, knowing that they are safe from birth.

    Which Keel bears did you get sweetpea? With regard to the soft toys, my motto is 'If in doubt leave it out' if there is a tag saying not suitable for children under 3 then regardless of any other instructions I wouldn't use them, soft toys that don't say anything other than remove tag before giving to a child I would consider to be baby safe, it does usually say on them if they are not from birth.
    Janey x ;)
  • Hi Janey, I got the smaller laying down pink and blue ones, but they have also got the larger ones that I am going to go back and get. I also got the round ones that rattle, the small cute bears in blue, pink and white with the gingham hands and feet and a couple of the ones with the nappy and top on that say "baby boy" and "baby girl"! They are all really lovely.

    It's a good job we have moved house because our spare room is full of nappy cake stock now!
