  • Website looks great, did you do that yourself? I have had one made costing me £50 a month (renting it rather thn buying out right) and not had one sale through it, so very dissapointed. I just dont feel they are doing their job properly. I have a facebook page too - sweet cheeks nappy cakes. Website of the same name.

I would like to set up a maternity/baby retail website, but its fundsand time holding me back.. How on earth do you do it with 6 kids!?!

Your cakes look good, you should be proud of yourself.

You should check out Weebly.com I have a site through them and shop, all completely free. No set up charge and no fees. I paid about £7 from 123-reg for my domain namwe which I transferred over and then it's just the standard paypal charges that you get whenever you use them anyway!

Can any one help. I am searching for insurance befor i do my first craft fair. I have looked at market traders association and am waiting to here back if they could cover for craft fairs, also aai I thin its called but I dont think i meet the criteria for membership. Also Ian Wallis but that is more expensive than the other two at almost double the price. I cant use the comparison sites as you need to put in a category for buisness and craft isnt one of the options. if any one could please help that would be great. thanks:)
Looking forward to new ventures
  • hi zangel cant help you sorry hun in fact i was wondering how you have got on price wise with the insurance so far as its something i would also need to look into :) hope everythings going ok x
  • I'm making my first nappy cake, what does everyone use to cover the nappies??
    They all look beautiful :)
  • Hi Rachel90 :)

I tend to use fleecy blankets, muslin squares and burp cloths to put on the outside of my cakes :) I need some vests/sleepsuits to play with too as these can also be used!

Or just ribbon with the nappies showing? That also looks great!

I just can't post pics yet as im a newbie :D Good luck! :)

    Thanks Sarah.

Yeah I definitely want the nappies to be covered! Need to get searching for some bits then. Have a lot of bits to go in the cake just nothing to cover it!

  • Louise.shorty.

I know I am seriuously just packing in with them. There are still problems with the site that I have been asking them to fix for weeks. I have mentioned to him that I am thinking of going it alone and use a free website builder, to which he responded saying that you never see a website built in that way in the top search results. Well mine doesnt come up in search's on nappy cakes and i'm paying £50 a month!!

Do you get much business through your website Louise??

    Thanks

    Hi Sharon
I wouldn't be happy paying someone £50 a month and not even ranking high enough on Google for customers to find me, you need traffic to your website otherwise you will never sell anything, they are ripping you off, you are paying them £600 a year, you could get a website built, 1 yrs hosting and some SEO work for that, some of the free websites are ok but again it's the SEO work that moves you up the rankings on Google, how long have you had your current website up and running? Really sweet cake, might be a good idea to fold your vests in half so that you don't loose the definition of the cake tiers, keep your ribbon neat and bows uniform, practice makes perfect.
