Wow, that's amazing. I have only got 4 cakes in stock so really need to get cracking. I will be happy if I make £50 let alone £500!!0 -
i suppose craft type fairs would be the best place to sell these but has any of your ever tried car boot sales? is this a silly idea im just looking in general were different places might be a good choice to sell them
Hi Lilly
Depends on how seriously you are wanting to go with this really, personally I wouldn't even entertain car boots, they are mostly dusty and dirty venues with people wanting something for next to nothing and rightly so this is what car boots are all about I love them lol, but I wouldn't take my nappy cakes to sell them there, however, everyone is different and maybe some of our forum members have found success in this area.... Had an interesting conversation with Trading Standards or Consumer Direct as they are now known as, so thought I would share it with any fellow nappy cake makers out there....... as you all know nappy cakes are baby gifts that are created for new parents and contain a variety of baby goodies, according to TS the soft toy that is often included in or on a nappy cake must be a baby/nursery soft toy ...that states it is safe from birth onwards, fortunately I only use baby safe soft toys in all my nappy cakes anyway but I know some soft toys are usually from 36 mths onward so I always check, thought I would pass this info on but it may be worth a call to TS yourselves if you are thinking of selling them as a business as there is a list of safety regulations that now cover the design and selling of these gifts including info on nappy's themselves, inbox me if you would like further details....... Janey

Hi Lilly I would agree with Janey about the boot sale thing0

I've done two car boot sales with my cakes and have had very little success. That said, I did give lots of business cards out so if you have other things to sell and have a little display area, it could be a cheap advertising opportunity for you0

Hi all
I have been looking through this thread for a while now and have gained some great tips so thank you all.
Can anyone help with how to package up a cake for posting? What do people use to stop the nappy cake from getting damaged in the post? I have a bear & baby on board sign sat on top of my cake and think that if the box gets tipped upside down they are going to go everywhere.
Finally any sugestions on cardboard box suppliers ?
Thanks0 -

I have only posted one 3 tier so far and used a courier service via Parcels2go which are online and select the courier Yodel (thanks to Janey21 for recommending). I marked it "This way up" and "Fragile" all over it. It got there in perfect order. I have sent one of my tiny cakes through Royal Mail and that got there fine, but I wouldn't trust it for any of my larger 1 tiers or bigger.0 -
Does anyone know where I can get some cheap blue (plain or patterned) feeding cloths from?
I have got loads and loads of pink ones that I got ages ago in the matalan sale for 72p for a pack of 3 which is amazingly cheap but the blue ones are never in the sale and are £3.50 for a pack of 3. Just wondered if there is anywhere else I can get them cheaper. I have had a look online but can't seem to find anything.0
