    Thanks Kate

I'm not sure about the selling as I only rely on word of mouth, and my website, I don't have any contacts for selling in shops, although obviously I would like to!

I did ask a while back at some local florists, but the reply I got then was that they didn't have any room, so I didn't try again after that.

Timnlaura - the cake is cute :T

SallyUK - I saw your others photos and they are really really great !!!! So creative:beer:

Can I ask you where you display your cakes? Is it gift shop, bakery, local shop, florist or baby shop? I want to go next week and talk to owners and I am thinking to go to the bakery, florist, gift shop (I was at one and they want to see what I have so maybe will take sth) and tell me please as i'm new in the business do you sell it to them or they only display cake in the window and take some % of your profit? I will be veeery greatful for any answer.
  • Hi
to answer your question I have a baby shop that stocks my cakes and a gift/craft shop. They take the cakes on a sale or return basis for example mini cake sells in the shop for £12 I get £8 trade price from the shopkeeper. Does that make any sense lol! If you have prices in mind and most shop owners will ask for an RRP too although they will ask what they want depending on how greedy they are!!

    Hi
I make the mini cake for approx £3 so not a bad mark up for me and also for the shop owner, especially as they don't have to do anything other than display it in the shop!

  • I have been a lurker for a while on this thread and love all the cakes. I made my first nappy cake for my daughter last year. I have just been asked to make one for someone at work. My problem is how much to charge for a three tier and what would you normally include. I have priced the one I made for my daughter and it cost me about £54 to buy the items which seems a bit expensive to ask someone to pay.

    Hiya,

I tend to sell my 'standard' 3 tier cakes for about £30 and they generally include about 30-35 nappies, a blanket, a muslin, a feeding cloth, 2 pairs of socks, pair of scratch mitts, a hat, 1or2 bodysuits (vests), brush & comb and a soft toy and then I do a £50 3 tier 'luxury' cake which I usually do as a disney cake as the disney items tend to be more expensive and I will put in the above items plus a bottle, shampoo, teether, soothers, disney outfit - Actually I've been really lucky cos lately all my 3 tier orders they've had a £50 budget!! Got an order for one at the moment so gonna do a Tigger one!

Don't forget to include the cost of cellaphane, ribbons etc & your time!

    HTH!! :D
