  • is there any way to just view the pictures. I have finished the basis of my first nappy cake and have all the little bits, apart from what to 'ice' it with. Jusst wanted to see what ideas were out there.
  • Hi everyone and a very belated happy new year to you all - lol!
Not been on here for AGES I would like to say its because I have been so busy with my cakes but sadly not! My PC blew up before xmas and then my youngest son was really quite poorly, car broke down etc etc bit of a nightmare but heyho new year new start. Back to work after my mat leave on Monday :( but on the brightside have another shop willing to stock my cakes - yay :j The shop that took a lot of my things last year has asked me to collect the 3 tier cakes though and she wants lots of mini cakes and sock cupcakes, a little annoying as she asked me to make 2 of each blue, pink and neutral 3 tiers and as they are supplied sale or return that leaves me out of pocket but nevermind I shall send these to the other shop :D lol
Hope you are all well and that business is booming

I've had an order for a nappy cake, but they also want a 'cake' for an older sister who will be 10 nearly 11, any ideas?

    Thanks

  • Hi,
depending on what she likes the most I would do High School Musical or Hannah Montana cake for her you can buy a towel or blanket with it or even a pijama and some things like makeup set a lovely teddy bear dvd or cd with the music I don't know what else... ask what she likes the most..There is a lot to choose from... even a set mug+bowl (my daughter has with High School Musical which I've bought in B&M for 1,5 each).
    Hope it helps.
    Kate

Love your red cake you did recently!

I made a few cakes for 13 year old girls for Christmas and did towel cakes. I used things like make-up, chocolates, jewellery, hair things, toiletries and things that teenagers might find useful. I know you said it's for an 11 year old, but she might those kind of things too.

In fact, another few I did were for teenage girls and I used a lovely soft teddy and some flowers for their room and put sweets inside the cake, like this one:

Thanks, the minnie mouse cake sold in less than 24hrs of being on display in my DH's shop!

I've made one for a 4 yar old b4 and it was much easier, i'm gonna quiz the customer more i think!

  • Timnlaura - the cake is cute :T

SallyUK - I saw your others photos and they are really really great !!!! So creative:beer:

Can I ask you where you display your cakes? Is it gift shop, bakery, local shop, florist or baby shop? I want to go next week and talk to owners and I am thinking to go to the bakery, florist, gift shop (I was at one and they want to see what I have so maybe will take sth) and tell me please as i'm new in the business do you sell it to them or they only display cake in the window and take some % of your profit? I will be veeery greatful for any answer.
