New Nappy Cake

Hi All,
I have been reading this forum and the forum before this and have decided to give the Nappy Cake a go for my Sister whos due in March. I was just wondering if people could help me with a few questions I have about putting one together as I am intrigued.
1. How do you stick each teir on top of each other? Is there anything you use to keep its shape and keep it secure?
2. Is there a way to fold the blankets around the cake to keep them in place and make them look nice and neat?
3. I am also interested in making Roses with baby socks to decorate it if anyone could help me with this?
4. How do you wrap it up in Cellophane? I have seen some on Ebay which is 20m x 50cm but I'm not sure if this would be wide enough? or to get it wrapped at the Florist!
After I have made the Nappy cake I am interested in trying to do other ones such as the Baby Carriage and the Baby Bike?? Angelkay I have looked at your pics above and they are great, if you could help me with how to make one that would be great.
Any pictures would be great to help me put this together! I have a rough Idea after reading both Forums.
I have bought quite a few bits that I need to put it together such as Cake Board, Nappies (size 3) from Asda big boxes on offer 2 for £18, Burp Cloths, Bibs, Socks, Scratch Mits, Hat and Booties , Digital Thermometer, Nail Scissors, Brush & Comb, Bottle Cleaner. Is there any other bits you can think of that I could include?
Thank You0 -
Hope nobody minds me joining in, have been following this thread with interest since I 1st asked what a Nappy Cake was. I'm about to embark on my 1st venture. SO as was going Xmas shopping at the warehouses in glasgow, I thought I'd get my bibs n bobs in there.
I just wondered if anyone could tell me if these prices are ok and not too expensive for what i bought to start.
5 hooded baby towels at £1.99 each in mint green, lemon, beige, baby blue & pink with a cute animal applique.
5 packs of baby wash cloths (5 in a pack) in the same colours 70p per pack.
Baby hat, bib and bootee pack in the same colours £1.00 each.
Pram blanket (honeycomb) in same colours (5) at £1.50
each.
Now just need to get some cake boards, ribbon. and obviously nappies.
Have had some interest from people when I mentioned
I was going to start doing this. Some een asked what a nappycake was lol.
Just want to make sure that I amnot spending too much to start out with.
Will be going back mid-week for some soft toys etc., they were 50p-75p each
ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks x0 -

Hi Irlrip, for “Swirling” I do them a different way to what’s been mentioned.
I use a round cake storage box (you can use a large basin or even a pan) and put nappies around the inside edge of this, overlapping as you go.
Keep going until you have filled the container and then put elastic band around top of container (It helps with elastic band if container is not as high as the nappies)
Tip container and nappies upside down and as you slide container off, make sure the elastic band slides over nappies. Then, it is just a matter of neatening up the spacing of the nappies.
I use a tall paper tube in the middle of my cakes so I put a rolled up “2 nappies” in the middle of dish so that I still have a space in the middle. If you don’t want a space – just carry on until it is full.
You can add as many nappies as you want – just space them out

Does the swirl method use about the same number of nappies per tier as the rolled method?:jPobodys Nerfect:j0

Another clever way of swirling MoonPenny well done!!!
To Queen Bee - I think I use more when I roll individual nappies not sure why though ? I do find the swirling more time efficient though and don't forget you are cutting costs too the less nappies you use and long as you still fit in a reasonable amount - for example on a 2 tier with toy I generally use approx 30 nappies, a large 3 tier with toy approx 50.
