Apologies to those who have looked in the last 5 mins, I uploaded this image but it was so big it barely even fitted on the forum, let alone the screen!
This is my first attempt. I'm going to stuff the booties on the front so they look more bootie shaped. The scratch mits on the sides are no longer sticking out of the sides. Just wondered what people's first thoughts are, any feedback/ideas would be great.
    Thanks,
    LMMS

Hi Everyone. I'm a newbie on here so I would first like to tell you all how gorgeous I think your baby cakes and other baby gifts are!
I made my first ever baby cake in January for my SIL. I had never seen or heard of one before! It was suggested I make one by a friend as I wanted a unique pressie for Mum and baby instead of just giving them the baby box I had filled with toiletries. Oh how I laugh about it now - I worked from a description my friend gave me by phone as I had no internet access to look!!! It turned out quite well all things considered and it was so crammed I could barely hold the blanket together on the bottom tier! I've got a photo somewhere which I will dig out at some point if you all promise not to laugh.
Anyway, I'm starting to waffle now so I'll get to the point... please can someone tell me where can I buy the smaller wash cloths from? When my son was born I remember buying a set of 6 - 2 blue, 2 white and 2 white with blue spots but just can't remember where from! I desperately need some to complete a cake that was ordered by my MIL for a friend's daughter and her baby. (I've had time to practice now lol!)

Thanks Almond. I had a stroke of luck yesterday I found a B & M and a Home Bargains right next door to one another! No wash cloths though in either of them. Oh well, guess I'll try the £ shop on Friday.

    Thanks Emma,
I'm going to get a teddy or something for the top. Haven't seen anything I like that's a reasonable price! I was thinking about the bows, not very confident about them. Do you guys make the ribbons them attach them or tie them as you tie the ribbon?
I loved making it, had a few tantrums along the way tho! But I know where i've gone wrong and where I can improve on the next one.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
im nappy cake obsessed now! I finished a 3 tier the other day and am so pleased with how it came out, but now think non of my others will turn out as good.

a question for people who sell in shops, how does it work and how much do you get for say a cake you would sell to someone for £30, how much do you give the shop for selling it? Is it better to take out an advert then hope orders come in or go via shops? Thanks

Just as I was leaving to deliver the two nappy cakes to the same company, I had a horrible thought .... I hope they are not for the same person (as blue ellie's in each. So took another teddy just incase ..... turns out they were. So back to my car I went and swapped an Ellie for my tesco bargin teddy. I was praying the cello didn't rip. Thank god I had used the 'sticky spots' and not a bit of cellotape on the seams.

Sold another 'daddy tool belt' today too.
Think I better get the sewing machine out tomorrow and quickly make up some more.

Dirtyknees, it looks beautiful. I am sure the teacher will love it.
I hope you will be turning up at the school early that morning, in order to show it off to all the moms ..... you could get some more orders.
