stardrops42 wrote: »Hi Guys
Just had my first orders for nappy cakes, only made one before:eek:. They are for a couple of my colleagues, one wants to spend £10 for a single tier cake and the other wants to spend £30 for a 3 tier cake. As I have only made one single tier cake before I'm really not sure of prices of things. Do you think I will be able to make these cakes for that price (not including money for making them) Thanks
For the £30.00 cake you can always make it look more then it is buy adding nappies i do and putting something like vests in there bottom tier i would use a towel or blanket 2nd tier i would use a muslin square and top tier a burp cloth
Blanket or towel from Asda £3.50
muslin square about £1.00
burp cloth again about £1.00
so that's about £5.50 add your nappies and some socks and maybe a vest and a teddy or shoes on top and you can pick up some nice plain bids in tesco as well to use on them i think there about £2.75 for 5 so enough for 5 cakes
hope this helpsI Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It0 -

I had a CT scan today so figured while i was there i might as well see if the hospital shop (WRVS) will stock my cakes. They sent me around to a portacabin to seee the manager who has taken it on sale or return (she said baby things dont sell well at the hospital for some reason). The only problem is the portacabin is also a little shop (run by the same people) and I think they are going to display it in there, only I didnt even know the shop exsisted and i've been going there for years! Its not exactly a place many visit so I can't see anyone spotting it and thinking they will pick it up. Anyway I'm going to ring in about a months time to see whether it needs collecting (or if some money does!)Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

You just reminded me vikki i knew i was going say something last week. i also asked at my hospital as i am consultant led and have to go every month with this pregnancy. The lady was very rude to say the least. They have tables in the lobby/ reception area near a help tesk and i have seen people having little stalls there. I asked very politely if i could rent a stall/ table for the day to display my cakes and gifts or just have leaflets out on it and she went off on one saying only things to do with or that would benifit the NHS was allowed to have a table so NO. The table was empty and i explained that i was willing to pay so that would benifit the hospital but she just said No again. I also noticed that the shop in the hospital sold baby baskets, teddies and clothes already bought in from a company. The basket was tiny it contained booties, mittens, bib and a teddy for £17:eek::)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0

Anyway, popped on to ask if anyone has seen any Peter Rabbit bits not too expensive? Its just that I bought a Peter Rabbit soft toy & rattle in the Boots sale and my SIL had a little boy on Sunday - Gorgeous George!! and I'd like to use them and do him a Peter Rabbit cake if I can!! Don't have to be mega bargains cos its for family not for profit but can't afford mega bucks either - any help gratefully received !!!0 -
Why don't you try ringing the hospital to enquire about a table...you may get someone more helpful to talk to! Have you thought about leaving a sample cake in a local hairdressers...two of my local ones are happy to display sample cakes & business cards for me.....
Hi can I ask do the hairdressers ask you for a cut of the sale price or do they display them for free? The reason I ask is the village I live in has 4 hairdressers!!! Never thought about asking them to display before. Thanks in advanceProud mummy to 3 beautiful boys!0
