LHR-Adelaide-Bangkok-LHR flights nightmare!!!

You can do it cheaper with Air Asia X and Jetstar, but it's more convoluted: London-Kuala Lumpur-(Melbourne- Adelaide- Melbourne)-Kuala Lumpur-London for around £860 or less.0

Interesting Jetstar reviews http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/jetstar.htm
Jetstar can be a wee bit unreliable especially if using connections. Our last flights were cancelled altogether and we had to fork out for overnight stay Trying to rebook on the next flight was a nightmare as well we gave up and flew with another carrier. Would not use them again. For the routes you are going I would book with the big carriers.0 -

Actually I did, just neglected to write it in. But it's priced in . Lon to KL is £384 with a 25kg luggage allowance. KL to MEL £300. MEL to Adelaide £100 or £80. KL to BKK £80 or £100. One was £80, the other was £100...can't remember which.
If you just take 20kgs of luggage, the price will be lower.0 -
Given your destinations, a Qantas Walkabout fare is your best solution. Flying with one airline keeps one point of accountability, especially if your bags go walkies.
Walkabout fares / special offers are available on the Qantas home page. It has a really easy journey planner. Play with the dates to get the cheapest but £850 should be achieveable at the moment, but beware Dec is a very popular month to travel
Hope it helps.0 -
I get the same sort of price from the walkabout offer on Qantas of around £1290. But the travel time is a bit shorter to get to Adelaide. Did you mean £850 would be achieveable if i was traveling this time of year? I couldn't get near that around the end of december.0

I've spent a few hours playing around with the air asia site and found it would be a nightmare to plan and would end up with some stupidly long journeys, I think at this point i'd rather book from one airline like the Qantas walkabout thing, or possibly just use one airline for each leg like I originally thought of doing if I can get a really good deal.0

I just put in 25th Nov to 16th Dec got £917, after the 16th, prices will go up for Christmas New Year period. You will have this issue with all airlines.0

It's simple. You have a choice between saving money or convenience. The longer that you delay, the more expensive it will become.
Somehow you are missing the advice that you are being given.
You can break up the journey in KL by having an overnight at a TUNE Hotel at LCCT or KL.
Which is the more important to you?0 -

I know I am new to this forum, and some people see a post count as a sign of stature, but please don't assume that I am missing out on the points people are trying to make.
If you read my posts on this thread it should be clear that I have investigated everyone's suggestion thoroughly, and that i've been very grateful for the help i've recieved.
Aside from that, thank you for your suggestion about staying in a hotel at one of the airports to break up the journey. Unfortunately I'd prefer not to do this as it cuts down on my 'holiday time'. I think i've come to the conclusion that convenience is going to be the winner on this one (just as you pointed out). So i'm probably going to plump for the Qantas walkabout deal. You're only young(ish) once I suppose0
