can any1 help, i have been naive and fallen for the yes loans scam! i stupidly believed that i had finally been accepted by some1 for a loan of £3000 and in turn paid the £69.50 admin fee on my debit card! i have since read all of the warnings online and im panic stricken! is there any way i can get the admin fee back? should i contact my bank and put a stop on my debit card?
i have tried to call them but was in the queue for 30 minutes and as i only have a mobile had to hang up!!!!
i would be very grateful for any advice but please, if all your going to do is call me stupid then please dont, i feel bad enough already!
thanks
You should be able to get your admin fee back from Yes Loans. You are covered by the Consumer Credit Act 1974 section 155
"1.17 Where section 155 applies, the consumer is entitled to a refund (less £5) once six months have elapsed following a relevant introduction, if no agreement has been entered into as a result of that introduction".
For more info just put 'consumer credit act section 174, broker fees' into a Google search and pick the OFT (Office of Fair Trading) link that comes up.
In addition the Office of Fair Trading recently took formal action against Yes Loans and imposed requirements on them. If you put 'oft, yes loans' into a Google search and again click on the OFT link you will see the OFT's press release. You can click a link that gives details about the requirements imposed upon them which include the fact that Yes Loans have to refund if customers cancel within 14 days and the requirement to refund fees within 30 days if customer's cancel their agreement.
Brokers can keep a £5 admin fee back from the refund.
So, send them a letter asking for a refund and let your local Trading Standards Office know if you have ANY problems getting your refund. They will collect data and pass on to the OFT if necessary.0 -
Stevo, I really don't think you get this, so I am going to spell it out to you. Stop posting the telephone number of a company director on this site, it is against the forum rules. You have been reported for continually breaching the forum rules.Best Regards

You have to write recorded delivery cancelling within 14 days - see my previous thread (Yes Loans - Please Help)- I did and they didn't take it. They were due to on the 12th but I wrote to them and cc'd it to the Ombudsman and they haven't tried to take the money.
Hi did you contact them via e-mail? If you did do you have the address you used to contact them on? Thanks0 -
Please don't have anything to do with this company they take money out of your account without permission and make it ,o hard to get it refunded the customer sales team are mostly not very helpful and it looks like this bunch of con artists are going to make me wait for 30 days to get my money back not right when view should not have taked it I'm the first place0

They could only have taken money from your account if you gave them your bank details. Never do this.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Sorry but you are so wrong...how did they take money? you must of gave them your account details.....as someone above has said, they tell you 4 or 5 times they are a broker....take responsibility for your OWN actions. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

But we rarely hear from them again, do we? Do they just use this site for a rant or are they genuinely seeking help?I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Well my OH stupidy went behind my back and applied for a loan via Yes Loans.
Sent them a letter recorded delivery and within a month a cheque arrived with the fee returned less the fee.
Wasn't difficult.
What I do wholly disagree with is the fact they took his debit card number - stating the only reason was to perform an ID check and charge £1.00
They categorically stated they woudln't take the £69.50 at that point - but did nonetheless.
No matter, got a refund and OH has been taught never to be so stupid again...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Hi,i tried these for a loan in July 2011.I applied and whithin my rights changed my mind within two weeks.I let them know by letter that i did not want the loan after all (this is mandatory) i was sent a letter of confirmation that i would receive a cheque for £69.50 within 36 days.I have never received it! Unlikely to ever get it going off forums on the internet.DONT EVER DEAL WITH THESE !!!!!!! I got a phone call off them 6 weeks after applying for the loan asking me do i still want the money? I said no.I was then told that if you dont want the money (in a foreign accent) GO TO HELL! This is a company based in wales, cwmbran.AVOID AT ALL COSTS!0
