Because we are moving i only posted my driving licence off monday for the change of address and couldnt prduce it so he has issued me with a '7 day wonder' but said i'm unlikely to be able to comply with that so when i do finaly get it i will be cautioned.

Well thats weird, they withdrew the "Producer" forms a few months ago, they dont use them anymore.

A simple PNC check and a follow-up telephone call with the DVLA will confirm all the details on your driving license.

my car is ruined and im only 3rd party fire and theft so i dont know how long i can drive it for.

Are we all meant to feel sorry for you? I certainly don't.

That's what happens when you have the cheapo option car insurance.

You could have had an accident involving nobody and you'd still be screwed.

At least that's another banger off the road.

I didnt know that they had withdrew them but i thought there was a database now that they could tell if you were insured, mot upto date etc. He said there is a database but i still need to physically produce the driving licence. mine was the old paper style so i had to send off for the photo card this time.

nope i wasnt asking for any sympathy, just some advice really on what i could do. Yes the car was old but in superb condition and has flown through the last 3 years mots with a few tyres need replacing, it is/was a great car. And I own it i dont have any finance to pay off. Maybe when i was in my twenties did i care what i drove but i quickly learned that a few stray shopping trolleys in a car park or someone jealous can turn your pride and joy into a mess.

the third party insurance was a mistake by me, i cant do anything about that now:o the family car is fully insured and i dont know why the chose 3rd party insurance i have 10 yrs no claims and the cars are sports cars so fully comp is always rasonable for me.

i'll guess i here back from the police in the next few weeks.

Actually, there still is a producer form. Anything from your driving license, insurance etc.

Only know because my DD had one last month!!

It appears fairly straight forward, you didnt stop as you were in shock, at the earliest possible time you reported the accident, at the time you didnt see anyone injured nor did anyone appear to be injured. If asked further about why you drove off the answer is simple you were in shock, within 30 minutes the shock subsided and you did what had to be done.

Two things are certain, your premiums are going to go up, and blame will bounce in the end to whom the insurance companies believe.

I think that there is some confusion in some previous posts; it would appear from the OP that events after the incident resulted in stolt travelling away from the scene and therefore not necessarily seeing what happened next...

and swerved back into the side (passenger) of his car forcing him into the central barrier.

The other party may have found themselves unable to drive away.
a motorbike pulled over to check i was ok and he then drove off.
This is the driver that "then drove off," not the other driver directly involved.

I like the idea mentioned in previous posts of potential CCTV footage existing that may clearly show the circumstances of the incident - Highways Agency? :)

leaving the scene of an accident without leaving details could be very costly.

A few years ago i noticed a small scrape on my car door, As i was inspecting it a guy working on the roof next door shouted down that he had written the vehicles number down. I took the details to the police station & after a while i got a letter with the court date.
The driver was fined £500 and got 6 penalty points for failing to stop.

Expensive for such a small scuff.
